Wow that sure is some experience, you lucky devil Tim!
I would probably be terrified that the Walrus eyeballing me from a metre away

2018-06-25 Thread Stephen Chape
Thank Ronni.
My 6S has stayed on for a week now.
Just means it needs charging a little more often.

But I will ask at the Apple Store anyway.
It is as though battery level is read incorrectly by iOS at startup.

Re: Strange Battery notices on my iPhone 6S ?

2018-06-25 Thread Tim Law
Ronni I’ve just been in the high Arctic, in a boat for ten days around Svalbard.

Somehow I didn’t get FOMO when surrounded by mountains, ice, polar bears and
touching distance of a walrus who was eyeballing me from a metre away. Those
experiences surpassed everything technology could give me.

I quite surprised my family by not going all jittery 😬

Many Apple products, such as the iPhone and the MacBook, were designed to be
put on standby or "to sleep" when not in use, some feature a pulsating light to
signal that they can quickly be revived.

Re: Strange Battery notices on my iPhone 6S ?

2018-06-25 Thread Tim Law
Stephen I followed the prompts in Battery Health (Beta) and found the process
in the iPhone 6S to inform me of the need for a battery replacement flowed
smoothly to booking a time and a very well informed an easy experience at the
city Apple Store.

The worst part was that empty and and confused feeling being off the grid for
the two hours the repair took, so I had a beer and burger in Kings Park to calm
 the FOMO!

Re: Strange Battery notices on my iPhone 6S ?

2018-06-25 Thread Stephen Chape
Hi Ronni.
I just checked my 6S and note that Peak Performance Management is enabled.
I guess since the first time it switched off.
Does not appear to have prevented shut downs though.

Next time in Perth I shall visit the Gurus me thinks.

Still need to check my wife’s iPhone 5.

Apple Announces Service Program for Butterfly-Switch Keyboards

2018-06-25 Thread Ronda Brown

/Begin Quote:
Apple has announced a service program for all MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops
with butterfly-switch keyboards. The announcement lists every model that’s
covered, but the short answer is “every Mac laptop to date with a USB-C port,”
meaning 12-inch MacBooks since 2015 and MacBook Pros since 2016.

Many people dislike the feel of the butterfly keyboard, with its minimal key
travel, but the problem here is how much more susceptible they are to dust
particles than those in previous Mac laptops, leading to more sticky and dead
keys. AppleInsider recently calculated that the 2016 MacBook Pro butterfly
keyboards fail twice as frequently as those in older models.

Combine that with a possible $700 charge for repair outside of warranty and
AppleCare—since the keyboard is built into the MacBook and MacBook Pro bottom
case and can’t be swapped out—and it’s little wonder that there is a lawsuit in
progress (see “Class-Action Suit Filed against Apple for MacBook Butterfly
Keyboards,” 16 May 2018).
