Dear WAMUG’rs, I have received a not so pleasant advice from both Apple and 1Password with regards to the latest update to Safari now in version 13.0.
As per usual, due to my trust in Apple, I went forward and updated Safari immediately. I have an old iMac(mid 2010) running High Sierra v. 10.13.6 and 1Password v. 6.8.9. After the last update I discovered that 1Password icon had disappeared from Safari’s Toolbar and Safari was asking to add Safari Extension, presumably to have 1Password Mini to work. The unfortunate surprise was that the only way for me to obtain that Safari Extension is to update my copy of 1Password to version 7, the one available via subscription only on the App Store. So beware before updating Safari and ensure you have enough funds in your bank account to also fork out the necessary $$s for 1Password v. 7. I am now using Firefox to do all my banking, because fortunately 1Password Mini is in this browser’s Tool Bar. This goes against my ‘belief system’ and modus operandi in that I have for many long years given priority to Apple’s softwares/applications. I do love Firefox though but for sentimental reasons. So now I have to decide on whether to take a risk and stay with my 1Password v. 6.8.9, knowing that it is not going to be supported by the publisher or go to the v.7 and fork out the dollars on a yearly basis. To 1Password credit, the software works so well and is so convenient specially due to the ability to log in to the myriads of web site I visit directly from the browser. That’s my rant for the year! My sincere apologies for using our forum to vent my frustration. Have a great Spring day and take care, Philippe Chaperon Philippe dit la Grenouille ...🐸
