RE: Anyone know where I can get an unlocked iPhone 4 for outright purchase?

2010-08-18 Thread Paul Burke
Hi Shay,

I spoke with Telstra HQ in city today and was told there is a (minimum) 2 week
wait for corporate purchases of iPhone 4. I assume this wait would filter
through to Telstra stores.

Cheers

Anyone know where I can get an unlocked iPhone 4 for outright purchase?
Perth Apple store are out of stock.
Online Apple store says 3 weeks delivery.

Does anyone know if the Telstra owned store in Hay St lets you purchase them
outright and unlocked?

Have fun,
Shay

Interesting article James.

As an aside to this, I have a Mac Mini (2.53GHz, 4 GB ram, Intel Core 2
Duo) which has one Firewire 800 port. I also have a WD MYbook 600Gig
external drive which has two Firewire 800 input ports.  My question;
where can I purchase an appropriate Firewire 800 cable to connect the
two? Tried Dick Smith, Officeworks, and several other computer outlets
in Morley, just got the normal blank look we have come to expect from
people who have been immersed far too long in the PC/Windows world.

Thanks

Hi Frank

You should be able to copy them from the old machine to the new one
from
the following location:-

Macintosh HD/Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/

In there will be a folder called Firefox.

Copy this Firefox folder from the old machine to the same location on
the
new machine.

This should then get Firefox to work with you with the same bookmarks
etc.

If the above doesn't work, you may also need the preference file from
this
location:-
Macintosh HD/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences.

Hope that helps.

Kind Regards
Daniel

Hi
A student friend was using her MB last night when the screen went
blank, she assumed the battery had gone flat but has since recharged
the battery and with the power chord in the MB will not wake, it has
blank screen and makes no noise, cap lock does not light, I have
googled this for her but can not find a solution. Any suggestions
would be gratefully appreciated.

If the HDD is not spinning on boot and the MB is not even posting,
sounds like a fault with the internal power supply unit or main board.
Sounds like a job for Apple care.

Good luck

Bad sectors on PB G4 - Need help

2008-02-11 Thread Paul Burke
Hi,

I have a Power Book PPC G4 running 10.4.11. The laptop stopped booting,
hanging on login window loading. I booted using tech tools cd and ran
all tests. The report stated bad sectors on the disk and it failed the
surface scan. Before repairing I backed up all the data to an external
drive using firewire mode. Then tried to boot into tech tools again and
it would not let me. I decided to rebuild the laptop with 10.4 using a
clean install and wiping the disk. After the clean install and
successfully booting into the OS I then booted into the tech tools cd
and ran all tests and repaired. I repeated this process and again got
bad sector errors and a failed surface scan test, although this I did
not get the option of repairing.

If this were a pc I would use a fantastic piece of s'ware called
spinrite. Now I know spinrite can read hfs but I don't want to have to
take the laptop apart in order to get the HDD out and into a pc (which
is the only way spinrite to work on Mac file system) - So question is
'Can some please let me know a good HDD repair s'ware product for the
Mac?' (Preferably freeware as I'm doing this as a favour for someone
else) - I have checked online with no joy...

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Paul
