Hi Guy’s
I have a 2008 Mac Book Pro that I want to return to factory settings, as I am
giving it away as a gift.
The MacBook Pro is operating Yosemite 10.10.5.
I have tried researching on line but the more you read the more confusing it
becomes, so I return to WAMUG for the security and sound advice.

Re: [WAMUG] Finder - Recents.

2023-10-12 Thread Daniel Kerr via WAMUG
Hi Tony

Yes, as Tim mentioned, you don’t want to delete those, or you will lose it.
Recents is just a “ghost image” of where all your files are stored currently in
other places on the computers. So if you delete them, you’re technically
deleting the originals.
Easiest way to not see them, is to change what you see when you click on Finder.

To do that, go to Finder.
Then go to the Finder menu and click on Preferences. (Or Settings in Ventura
and above).
Then click on General.
Under “New Finder windows show” - you can then change “Recent” to say
“Documents” or your user directory (eg “Tony" or whatever your user account is
called).
Then close that window.

Now, when you click on Finder (“the little smiley person on the left of the
Dock”), you’ll get taken to the folder you selected above.
I tend to have mine just open to my User directory, as then I can go to all my
main folders from there - Desktop, Documents, etc.

Hope that helps.

Kind regards
Daniel
