Re: Eudora Problem,...very confusing

2003-08-01 Thread Greg Pennefather
Hi Daniel

This sounds similar to a problem I encountered when using a Telstra ADSL
connection through a Win XP box. The notorious MTU problem. It may not be
Eudora or the mail server at all. Outlook Express did the same thing - it
found messages but was unable to download them.

I know it is not identical to your problem as you don't seem to have any
messages to download but might be worth looking at if you're stumped and if
you have ADSL.

I think Broadband Optimiser was the suggested solution for OS X.

Otherwise, see if OS X Mail can look at the mailbox and possibly clear it
which might allow Eudora to work again.

Just some ideas.

Cheers

Greg

Re: Eudora Problem,...very confusing

2003-08-01 Thread Daniel
Hi David and Bob

Thanks both for the suggestions. I've had a look and did what was suggested.
It seems to suggest Eudora is trying to get a "bad" message, yet when I log
into my webmail service there is no email in any mailboxes. I've got my host
people looking into it also.
Sill no fix as yet. Very strange. Even installing old versions of Eudora
didn't work, clean install, installs on other machines. So I know it's not
something on the machines locally. It all definitely points to something
sitting somewhere,..I just have to find where that one rogue message is!

Thanks for the info and help!

Kind Regards
Daniel Kerr

Daniel

If you have not already tried it, I would suggest you 'Check Mail
Specially' which gives you the option to delete all messages on the
server (be sure). If you hold down the option key as you go to the
to File > Check Mail you will find that' Check Mail' has now
changed to 'Check Mail Specially".

Eudora Problem,...very confusing

2003-07-31 Thread Bob

Daniel,

Although I am a long time Eudora user unfortunately I can't help you.
Whenever I strike problems with Eudora I seek advice from two
excellent Eudora discussion lists which I recommend you join -

I have logged onto webmail for my site and there isn't anything there.

I can check email in Entourage and Apple Mail and it collects and sends
correctly for my domain. I have emailed my domain host and they checked the

I have erased every spec of Eudora then reinstalled a fresh copy downloaded

Yes I know I could use another email client,...but I really really like this

So I'm stumped. Searching the Eudora support website turned up nothing. A

Eudora Problem,...very confusing

Hi All.

I am stumped. Everything has been working fine up to about 3 days ago, when
Eudora seems to have packed a sad.

It went to check the email and then it said
"Checking mail...
Peeking at message 1..."

It sits there for about 5 minutes or so, before it gives some other message,
ie server isn't responding, there is something wrong with your network
protocols, I need a holiday,...things like that.
