Re: Mail Trash NOT deleting after 1 month as requested

2018-08-13 Thread Stephen Chape
Hi Ronni.
Another email from JC.

Great Stephen…this issue seems to have started with El Capitan (or at least got
recurring with it) and the solutions offered (even those from Apple itself)
seem to work only temporarily. Some of those that did a OS update got the issue
resolved, but some didn’t resolve it like that or even by
reinstalling/restoring the OS.

Re: Mail Trash NOT deleting after 1 month as requested

2018-08-13 Thread Stephen Chape
Hi Ronni.
Got this reply just now.

Hi Stephen…one iMac and the MacBookPro are running High Sierra and the other
iMac is running El Capitan. On further inquiry, my daughter’s MacBookPro is
running High Sierra and email will NOT automatically delete after 30 days on
her machine on a POP account…changing Preference setting to delete on quitting
Mail app works, but not on 30 days.

Best regards,
JC

Sorry Ronni.
Duurrggghh …. I forget to paste in the text.
Here it is:-

Hi Stephen…I cannot reply directly to Wamug because I’m not a paying member, so
took the liberty to reply directly to your email.

Having said that just let me add that I have two machines at home (iMac and
MacBook Pro Retina) and another iMac at work and Apple Mail deletes emails
older than 30 days on all of them as expected…on POP accounts. On the other
hand a quick Google search shows that you are not alone.

Mail Trash NOT deleting after 1 month as requested

2018-08-08 Thread Stephen Chape
Hi folks.
This is something I have mentioned in the past, but never really resolved.

My Mail Trash folder is set to delete mail after 1 month.
I just checked and my Trash has over 900 emails going back to May.
Even though in Mailbox Behaviours it is set up to delete after 1 month.

This used to happen on my older 2012 iMac (which my wife now uses. And it still
does.)
But it also happens on my newer 2017 iMac.

I MUST be missing something in Preferences for Mail !
Any ideas would be most welcome ?

Regards,
Stephen Chape
