Sorry, re-reading your email you also wanted to know how to import. In the
File menu choose Import ... And select "import from program" and then
Outlook Express 5. But to do this you must have OE 5 installed (or you had
to when I last did it). This imports all messages and optionally contacts,
schedules and rules.

The other way, as I said in my first email, is to start OE5, select the
folders/messages you want to import and drag them to the desktop. Be warned
that this is not a recursive process as folders within folders do not get
copied, only messages within folders. Then quit OE5 and start Entourage,
now drag the messages/folders into the folder pane of Entourage and they are
imported. This way is good for selective importing and very handy for
backup.

Cheers

In my experience there are 2 things to bear in mind when importing messages
into an existing Entourage database;

1. You will need to have Outlook Express installed in order for the import
to work. There are 2 ways to import the messages, first using the import
function in Entourage or second, from OE, drag and drop the folders/messages
you want to import to the desktop then pick them up and drop them where you
want to store them in Entourage (literally drag and drop in to Entourage).

2. From memory either way will not delete existing messages. In fact, if
the message already exists it will double up.

My advice is to duplicate your Microsoft User Data folder (or just the
Identities folder) and execute the import. If it turns to custard you can
replace the Microsoft User Data folder with the copy and try again or try
something different.

Feel free to email me off list with questions as I have played around with
this a bit in the past.

Outlook to Entourage

2002-06-23 Thread Callum Prior
Howdy,

I've been trying to import some messages from my old Outlook 5.02 account
into my new Entourage account (which I've been using for the last 6 months
or so).

I've had a look through the archives to no avail, same with the Entourage
online help.

I understand it's possible to do when starting up entourage for the first
time / when you initially make the move, but what I'm after is the ability
to import these old Outlook messages into a pre-existing Entourage account
(with 1-2,000 messages stored away).

My concern is that if I try to Import into Entourage at this stage, the
current messages will be replaced.

Just hoping someone might be able to offer some advice.

Cheers!
