Hi John.
Go to iCloud.com  on your Mac.
Login using your Apple ID.

You should be able to set up Calendar from there.
And also add any devices.

Each device gets the same data from one source (iCloud).
So as long as they are all using iCloud they should all match.

I found it a bit fiddly (for Apple) to set up originally, but fine once done.
I can’t remember the fine details, but a little poking around and it should 
work.

Thanks Tim.  That is more than likely where my problem lies but the reference 
to icloud leaves me completely befuddled.  How do I check the icoloud settings?

John have you checked the settings in iCloud, AND in Calendar to make sure the 
correct calendars are displaying and activated. 

Might it be worth a good old, log out of iCloud and log back in again trick?
