Re: Apple Watch Series and Roaming

2018-05-02 Thread Michael Hawkins
Thanks Tim,

I checked with Telstra yesterday. Roaming charges would apply and Telstra has
such a small daily allowance (200mb) I’ve decided not to take the watch with me.

Cheers,

Michael

My error Michael

The series 111 does have a SIM

I believe my advice re checking the Telstra site for overseas roaming charges
is still relevant.

Re: Apple Watch Series and Roaming

2018-05-02 Thread Tim Law
Hello Michael

I suspect the Apple Watch does not have its own SIM card and connects via
Bluetooth to the phone to do stuff with the outside world. Much like connecting
your phone to the Bentley.

Therefore it will make no difference where in the world you are as long as the
phone and watch are close enough for the Bluetooth to connect. They will talk
to each other.

If you want to know if your Telstra SIM in your phone will work in New Zealand,
also by default the watch functioning as you expect, then the best option is to
read up on overseas roaming on the Telstra website as costs can be substantial.

Regards

Tim
