Received an email this morning with an attachment NAME.scr Strange thing is that I can not find the email to which the document was attached in my IN box. Is this a new virus? Merv -- Science teaches that we must see in order to believe, but we must also believe in order to see.

No, it's probably an old virus. You can safely ignore it, unless you send it to any windows using friends. Thanks, Shay -- === Shay Telfer Perth, Western Australia Technomancer It must be bunnies! Received an email this morning with an attachment NAME.scr Strange thing is that I can not find the email to which the document was attached in my IN box. Is this a new virus? No, it is not a new virus. It is an old virus, that has been around for a bit over a year now. Anything that has a: .scr .bat .pif suffix is a Klez virus. I get a few of them each week. They only affect Windows PCs. I've got a couple of hundred of them these days. I used to trash them, but these days I keep them. When people are pondering whether to buy a Mac or a PC, I show them all the viruses that are floating around, explain that Macs aren't affected, and the person ends up buying a Mac. Re: Strange email-attachment - virus
Not all .scr files are a virus they can also be one of the following four .Fax Program: FAXVIEW .Screen Saver Program: MS WINDOWS .Screen Snapshot (various programs) .Script The reason a lot of them can be a virus is that they can be a written script that someone has written as a virus. It always come down to the old adage if you do not know the source don't open the file or just to be safe, as some people do not know that they are sending you a virus, always check using your virus checker first.
