Hi WAMUGgers
As a followup to my post yesterday, many thanks to all of you who
responded. I went back to the school yesterday afternoon and the
teacher told me she didn't want several of the programs installed onone
of the 580s so I deleted them and decided to install OS8.1. This it did
quite nicely although now it has only 91mb of disk space left. I then
tried running the CDROMs but the computer then told me that "Mac Start
will not load. Either the program is corrupt or it is not suitable for
this type of computer." I think, as Onno says, It's trying to tell me
that it's not a PowerPC. Thanks Jon for alerting me to that little
oversight. Thanks Greg, Bob and Daniel for your advice and help re
using a Zip drive. I think that is a good idea. Then we can load all
the best compatible software on it and give the computer a new lease of
life. Ah yes but we have 2 580s to contend with, perhaps we can
appleTalk them. I've left the other one with 7.6.1 so I think it's safe
;-)
regards
Reg
