Re: Unable to lower Print Head Lock Lever

2010-01-03 Thread Joe Baker

Hi All

Thanks for the replies

Yes, I removed all the tapes and the orange protective cap leaving just the
Print Head, turned on the printer and inserted the Print Head into its carriage
- (although the Head itself has a white part at the bottom _ I did not attempt
or think to remove this as it appears to be part of the Head).

No way can the Lock Lever be put down as it is stopped immediately by the sides
of the Print Head. (It looks like the Print Head should be lower down in its
carriage but it is now firmly wedged where it is and will not move any lower or
can even be extracted back out).

Looks like I will have to ring the manufacturer. Rather frustrating as I
believe I have followed the instructions to the letter and have come stuck. How
can something so simple go so wrong? There is nothing in the instructions that
even suggests such a thing could happen, let alone what to do if it does.

Regards Joe

Hi Joe,

Sounds like you don't have the Print Head positioned correctly.
You need to tilt the Print head to get it to fit in its slot.

1. The printer must be turned on, raise the Print Head Lock Lever until it
stops. (The Print Head Lock Lever may feel heavy.)
If the Print Head Holder does not move, make sure that the machine is turned on.

2. Remove and discard the orange protective cap.

3. Tilt the print head & set it in place.

4. Then "pinch" the Print Head lock lever firmly & lower it gently & completely.

Do not knock the Print Head against the sides of the holder.

Cheers,
Ronni

2010-01-02 Thread James / Hans Kunz
you did not mention the removal of 1 or 2 tapes which normally cover
the head & air hole to prevent dryout during transport..
there should be a leaflet included that depicts the loading of the
cartridges

are you sure color is where the color should be?

Hi All

I require some help or advise.

Have just purchased a Canon PIXMA MP990 all-in-one printer.

Took it out of the box and tried to put the Print Header in the
Print Header Holder.

Raised the Print Head Lock Lever and inserted the Print Head into
the Print Head Holder.

Pushed it in until it clicked into position. But now the Print Head
Lock Lever can not be lowered into position as it is prevented by
the Print Head.

The inside sides of the Lock lever (a parallel thin plate along the
inside edge) prevents lowering as it "hits" the top outside edges
of the Print Head. It therefore remains fully open and the whole
printer top can not be lowered.

I do not want to use anymore force to close it. (More force feels
like it would break something).

Also since clicking in the Printer Head, it is firmly fixed into
place and unable to be moved any further nor even being extracted
back out. (Again I fear any more force will break something).

I do not think I inserted the Print Head in an incorrect manner as
it is sitting in the Print Holder in the same way as depicted in
the illustrations.

Unable to lower Print Head Lock Lever

2010-01-02 Thread Joe Baker

Hi All

I require some help or advise.

Have just purchased a Canon PIXMA MP990 all-in-one printer.

Took it out of the box and tried to put the Print Header in the Print Header
Holder.

Raised the Print Head Lock Lever and inserted the Print Head into the Print
Head Holder.

Pushed it in until it clicked into position. But now the Print Head Lock Lever
can not be lowered into position as it is prevented by the Print Head.

The inside sides of the Lock lever (a parallel thin plate along the inside
edge) prevents lowering as it "hits" the top outside edges of the Print Head.
It therefore remains fully open and the whole printer top can not be lowered.

I do not want to use anymore force to close it. (More force feels like it would
break something).

Also since clicking in the Printer Head, it is firmly fixed into place and
unable to be moved any further nor even being extracted back out. (Again I fear
any more force will break something).

I do not think I inserted the Print Head in an incorrect manner as it is
sitting in the Print Holder in the same way as depicted in the illustrations.

Regards Joe
