Hello ,
Anybody ready for Xmas in July ?That's what it seems like !
A question for somebody familiar with WORD , and perhaps Windows
Word ! ?
I have been sent a . Word data Merge document ...
and my versions of Word ( Classic and OSX )
tell me they cannot find the Data source document .
Am I right in concluding that the problem is at the sending end ?
That would be pretty much on the money. Merge fields are drawing
their data from a source separate from the Word document, so in order
for them to work you also need access to that data source. Without it
the document is not of much use
Should the sender be treating the document any special way before
attaching it to email ?
According to Word's Help file:
1. Open the main document from which you want to remove the data source.
2. On the Tools menu, click Data Merge Manager.
3. Click Create under Main Document, and then click Restore to Normal
Word Document.
This removes the document's dependence on the data source.
