converting DVDs to CDs

2005-12-20 Thread KEVIN Lock
I have iLife on DVD which I want to load onto an older iMac. How
much trouble is it to break it up to put it on CDs? Or is this not
possible?

TIA

Kev

Hi Kevin

It's possible and I've done it. You need enough free space on the
iMac to copy the entire DVD though, plus space to install it. This
may require you backing up docs and pics to the other computer first
if you need to free up space.

There may be other ways but this is what I did.
I assume your iMac has no dvd drive.
Using Target Firewire mode, copy the entire dvd onto the iMac from
the computer which has the dv drive.
Then open this image and install in the usual way. You can't install
it directly to the iMac using firewire as the installer will only
work if its running in the OS you are installing to!
