And you are exactly the type of user Apple is targetting with the  
Macbook.

Pro users are now expected to by the Pro Macbook with Firewire.

Also you may have missed it but Apple are continuing to sell the White  
Macbook as it's become known. It's apparently the best selling laptop  
ever for Apple. It's still for sale and Apple have no plans to  
discontinue it according to the Stevecast.

And it has Firewire. So there is your Prosumer Mac right there.

such as use ethernet based internet, or burn a disk. If I use a USB  
hub, I'm adding one more bit of tech stuff to carry around, and I  
have never found them to work very well.


So, the new Macbook, with the beautiful LED screen like my Macbook  
Air, but with lots of ports and an optical drive sounds very well  
endowed to me.
