Re: iPhone4 - TV show sorting

2010-12-22 Thread Neil Houghton
Hi all,

Just a follow up with some more info:

I just added two more TV shows to my sync list and these were NOT listed
under Fawlty Towers but correctly listed under the correct show title.

Somewhat encouraged, I thought there might just have been a problem with the
original sync when the problem shows were transferred - so I unsynched all
the shows (5 episodes from three different shows) that were being displayed
with the Fawlty Towers show, synched the phone again and confirmed that
there were just the correct 6 episodes showing under Fawlty Towers.

I forced the iPod app on the iPhone to quit (thought a restart of the iPod
app might help) and then added a couple of the problem episodes back to the
synch list.

Unfortunately, after synchng, they were back being listed as episodes in the
Fawlty Towers show!!

I am at a loss as to what is happening here:

* I have checked and re-checked all the info (on all panes) showing with
"get info" in iTunes - there is absolutely no reference to "Fawlty Towers"
anywhere.
* The shows all list and sort correctly in iTunes on the computer.
* The shows all list and sort correctly on the AppleTV (new model - which
runs an iOS system) when accessing the computer shared library.
* Browsing the connected iPhone from iTunes on the computer shows the TV
shows on the iPhone as having the correct show listed in the show column
* BUT the iPod app on the iPhone continues to show any of the 5 problem
episodes of these 3 shows as being episodes of ³Fawlty Towers² in the video
list.

Has anybody experienced anything similar? Any ideas?

TIA

iPhone4 - TV show sorting

2010-12-19 Thread Neil Houghton

Hi all,

Anyone else having problems with iPhone4 (latest software updates) not
sorting TV shows.

I have quite a number of TV shows which I have downloaded (from iView) and
encoded (now using Handbrake).

After I import them to iTunes they initially just show up a movies - but
then I go through them (using get info in iTunes) and:

- Change Media Type to "TV Show"
- Assign genres (I have some custom ones for TV shows)
- Add info to the Video Pane: Show/Season#/Episode#

After that I find they are all sorting correctly in iTunes - Ie If I select
by show "Fawlty Towers" I just get the 6 episodes of Fawlty Towers I have
(so far) - and so on if I select other shows - some of which have multiple
episodes and some of which just have a single item.

When I go to synch to my iPhone I have it set to Automatically include all
unwatched episodes of selected shows - and iTunes correctly lists all the
show (with the appropriate episodes).

However, when I open iPod on my iPhone and select videos - then under TV
shows it just shows "Fawlty Towers" as having 11 episodes - the actual 6
Fawlty towers episodes plus 5 episodes from the other 3 shows I have
currently selected for synching (one show of 3 episodes and 2 shows with
single entries).

When the iPhone is connected to my computer and I browse it with iTunes and
select TV shows (in the sidebar, under the device) I can see all the shows
on the iPhone AND all are correctly showing the show under the show column -
it's just that the iPod app on the phone seems to have just picked up the
first show (Fawlty Towers) and lumped all show episodes under this show.

Any ideas? Anybody else encountered similar problems?

TIA
