Re: seemingly, a solution to Mac OS X 10.2 and Telstra Cable (Broadband) problem

2003-07-28 Thread Mark Secker

Why Telstra lust haven't paid Jamie Curmie a license for this and
just included it on their set-up disks is a complete mystery.

My guess is that they would have wanted to take intellectual rights
and charge users for it and that he found this unacceptable?

Given that they don't even offer info about it on their own site or
through their call center would seem to suggest that they are either
deliberately ignoring it or stupid but that's just my personal opinion

actually my strictly personal, and in no way associated with my place
of employment, or my professional qualifications, opinion is the
"stupid" option but I have no evidence apart from irrational loathing
born of experience to back this up.

It seems I must have missed the original post regarding this, but as a
long-tome user of Launch! (since its inception) I can vouch for this
excellent little utility. It has never failed me, is as solid as a
rock, and rich in features, even to the point of telling you on-screen
how much you owe Telstra when you exceed your monthly download limit
(well, it's not pleasant information but very handy).

Why Telstra lust haven't paid Jamie Curmie a license for this and just
included it on their set-up disks is a complete mystery.

seemingly a solution to Mac OS X 10.2 and Telstra Cable (Broadband)
problem I queried about a week ago:

thanks to those who assisted with this.

the solution seems to be to use a 3rd party "donationware" program
called "Launch!"
have not given it a long term whirl but after 2 hours of testing
including large downloads, rebooting, reconnecting etc we encountered
no problems.

Version 2.2 of Launch! is available:
