[Wayland-bugs] [Bug 101139] Acceleration still too fast with slow and slow-medium finger movements

0001-filter-match-accel-roughly-with-macos.patch

This patch matches the macos pointer acceleration, afaict, at least at speed 0
and the min/max ranges sort-of match as well. +1.0 is more controllable than
macos IMO. The negative ranges close to -1.0 have a tendency to shoot off too
much, I think we need some lower max-accel caps here. Anyway, give this one a
try please and let me know what you think.

2018-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105447

Bug ID: 105447
Summary: Two-finger scrolling broken in 1.10.2
   Product: Wayland
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: libinput
  Assignee: wayland-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: graw...@gmail.com

I upgraded from 1.10.1 to 1.10.2, and it stopped recognizing about half of my
two-finger-scroll attempts, treating them as plain pointer movements. (I can
even run the old and new `libinput debug-gui` side-by-side, and the former
recognizes all my scrolls while the latter misses nearly half of them.)

This is on a full-multitouch touchpad (Synaptics) in RMI4 mode.

libinput 1.10.1 / 1.10.2
linux 4.15.7
Synaptics s3203 (RMI4 mode)

I'm assuming this is supposed to be 105x64? Please re-run so I don't have to do
the calculations in my head.

> E: 4.936156 0004 0005 5075200 # EV_MSC / MSC_TIMESTAMP5075200

All we're getting from the device are timestamps but no finger movements. So
either you held your finger perfectly still or the device/firmare/kernel driver
is buggy and doesn't send input events. Either way, this bit isn't something we
can fix in libinput.

The jitter in attachment 138009 is crazy, but the fixes for bug 104828 would
detect it if we'd switch to y-based jitter (not sure why it only jitters on the
y axis here, very strange). But we also need a tool for measuring fuzz (see bug
105202) so we can use this in the hwdb.

[Wayland-bugs] [Bug 99268] With Clickfinger behavior, pointer movement briefly turns into a scroll when a thumb is dropped onto the pad

2018-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99268

I think there's a pretty trivial way to resolve this: consider 70px or so strip
on the bottom to be where a thumb will land, and completely disregard any
touches on that strip while the pointer is moving. Basically, bring the bottom
strip from Areas into Clickfinger, but only for the purpose of disregarding
thumb activity.

Thanks for the evemu, that helped a lot. Caused by a corner-case where a fake
finger touch ended up hovering and was never terminated on the input event
sequence. On the next real touch with high-enough pressure it was continued and
caused a miscount of tapping fingers.

evemu recording

Since updating libinput to 1.10.2 I started experiencing sporadic XOrg crashes
related to libinput according to logs. Previous libinput version was rock solid
on my hardware. Crash happens every 30-60 minutes or so. I don't know exact
steps to reliably reproduce this bug.

OS: Arch Linux
Hardware: Lenovo IdeaPad S205
Packages:
 libinput 1.10.2-1

 xorg-server 1.19.6+13+gd0d1a694f-1

Also worth mentioning that this is not an isolated case, there are multiple
reports of users with the same laptop having touchpad issues:

[Wayland-bugs] [Bug 105258] libinput crashes Xorg with SIGABRT in libinput_event_get_pointer_event

2018-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105258

Reproduction steps: open gnome-terminal and swipe inside its window with three
fingers quickly left-to-right and right-to-left few times.

Apparently this assertion fails when t->state == TOUCH_END and t->was_down:
assert(tp->tap.nfingers_down >= 1);

Peter, I'm afraid the issue is still there.
I had libinput 1.10.2 installed which was still crashing Xorg. Then I upgraded
to commit 12410dfba4b903108c8926d68c64ed1c7468902d and rebuilt. I still was
able to reproduce the issue.

[Wayland-bugs] [Bug 105437] [libinput 1.10.2] Two-finger scroll crashes Xorg server

2018-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105437

Bug ID: 105437
Summary: [libinput 1.10.2] Two-finger scroll crashes Xorg
server
   Product: Wayland
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: libinput
  Assignee: wayland-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: kre...@email.com

Using GNOME 3.28 beta, Xorg Server 1.20 rc1 and latest xf86-input-libinput
release. When I enable two-finger scroll through gnome-control-center, and try
to use it in, say, evolution the xorg server crashes with the following
backtrace:

FWIW I also see this exact issue on a thinkpad t440p. I'm running libinput
1.10.1 under Arch with a 4.15.7 kernel.
