which season

2006-06-02 Thread james carroll
That is season 5 the episode is "Goodbye Sheriff Taylor". Barney is teaching
his recruits for the new deputy job. He tosses a tomato at Otis to test his
timing but it hits Otis in the chest. That is what leads up to the tomato
comment. More power to ya.

Emmett's marriage

2006-06-02 Thread jlj9675
Just watched that sweet episode in which successful marriages are highlighted
via Emmett's and Martha's loving relationship. When he conveys that shy grin
right near the end after she tears up the closed sign, it reminded me of when I
saw him in an old film one time. He was quite the dashing figure in a tux,
dancing in a nightclub; I believe that was where he learned to cut a rug so
well, as shown in the episode of Howard's new pad! Such delightful memories!!

Celebration of Life for Don Knotts

2006-06-02 Thread Anita Carpenter

I have been waiting for someone to ask for details about Allan's trip to
California for Don Knotts Memorial Service, but I can't wait any longer. Allan
I was so excited when I heard about you, Jim and the others getting to attend
this event. I believe if I had gotten to attend, I would have gotten weak like
Aunt Bee was when Augusta Finch passed away and the medicine man came to
Mayberry! I would probably need some of that special "elixir" Aunt Bee enjoyed
so much, just to contain my excitement. Allan, I was wondering if you could
give us some of the details of your visit? When you get time, could you please
tell us what all you got to do, and which of the stars from TAGS you got to
spend time with? I know that Jim Clark mentioned in the eBullet that he and
his wife and many of the other "tribute stars" were there, I was wondering if
this was an invitation only event? Do you or anyone else know of any other
memorial services for Don Knotts? I was thinking that
maybe his hometown in West Virginia would be having one? I can't wait to hear
about your experiences!

My vote for the best song from Mayberry would have to be "There is a Time" by
Charlene and the boys!

  .Oh No Pa!!...that'n makes me
cry.
.just jump in where you can an hang
on!.

The Mayberry Gossip Club Project

2006-06-02 Thread Allan Newsome
Hey Folks,

I wanted to ask again for your help.

We have created The Mayberry Gossip Club Project and we've done a LOT of
work over there. Gossip Club member "Howard Sprague" has entered episode
information for every episode which was a lot of work but now we need
other folks to add information to those episode descriptions.

Every episode has an "Odd Facts Known by Few" section into which we
would love to see more "odd facts" entered and the way the Club
works...YOU can enter that information directly.

We have a "Plot Summary" but maybe folks would like to add more
information about the story by adding to our summary?

Drop by for a visit and help us out.

Peculiar Means Dirty?

2006-06-02 Thread bcq145
Shady Grove, Mississippi, is about as Mayberry as you can get. Actually, it is
more
like Green Acres, but let's not split hairs here.
Besides the family with the phone on a pole outside, we had a wandering family
who traveled everywhere by bike, lived in a one-room shack deep out in the woods
without benefit of lights or running water, and wore several layers of clothes
regardless of the weather. They were the Smith Brothers--Bill, A.J., and
Plumber.
They had a younger sister, Florence, but she died in her early sixties. One of
the
boys was once bitten by a snake, had to be hospitalized, and it was rumored
received his first warm water bath.
Doctor said the bath probably was more dangerous to the boy than the snake.
All three men lived longer than its decent for anybody to do and were buried
exactly where they wanted to be: out behind their house.
I can only hope I have half as many people at my funeral as those boys had at
theirs.
Shady Grove shore did love them.

Old Lace and Older Sayings

2006-06-02 Thread bcq145

Ima Grillo was in the Dime Store today loading up on Vicks Vapor Rub to treat
her
toenail fungus, and Laura Lee Hobbs remarked how nice she looked. It reminded
me of one of Barney's favorite sayings, "Homely in the cradle, pretty at the
 table,"
'cause you all will remember that Ima was a remarkably ugly child. So if she
could
 pretty up, almost anybody can.
Now, that being said, what are some of your favorite Barney sayings?
I'll keep you posted on how Ima's toenail fungus is going.
Lydia over at the Dime Store, "My father hates his job."

Happy Birthday Andy!!!!!!!!!

2006-06-02 Thread Oliver, Michael J

Hi all,

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to Andy Griffith, the man who started
it all.

I also wanted to ask about the status of the Barney statue. I believe I
have seen a deadline to get it done by Mayberry Days and I just was
wondering if it made the dead line? I also was thinking, wouldn't it be
GREAT if Andy were to come to Mayberry Days this year for the dedication
of that statue, pending it makes it, and to celebrate Don Knotts's life
and work on the show! That would be so AWESOME!!! Maybe someone should
invite him?!

God Bless
