Re: Gary Cooper's in Hollywood
To answer Thelma Lou's question, the scene she is describing comes from episode #13 "Mayberry Goes Hollywood." That's where Barney tells Andy about Gordon Bellfield standing on Gary Cooper's lawn when he visits Hollywood. That was almost as exciting as when Harvey Kester fixed Gloria Swanson's radio set! 10-4. Gary Cooper's newspaper
Janet, the scene you're thinking of is in "Mayberry Goes Hollywood" from season one. It's a scene that was usually cut out for TV broadcasts, so I imagine many of the folks who bought the DVDs hadn't seen it before. --Paul >>>Anyway, I recalled a black and white episode where Barney is telling Andy the story of someone he knew visiting Hollywood, and his story is almost word for word the same, except that it was Gary Cooper's house, I think. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Don Knotts statue
There is an article in a local paper here in Houston Co., Ga which came from Mount Airy, N.C. Part of the article states that a second CBS attorney, Mallory Levitt explained to Hellebrand and The Mount Airy News that while Paramount/CBS owned the rights to the character of Barney Fife, the group didin't have the authority to give permission for a likeness of Don Knotts. " That right belongs to the Knotts estate," she said. Levitt told Hellebrand she contacted the actor's estate and business associates of Andy Griffith, who is still living, and none wanted to go through with the project. Maybe they think it is a little too soon to do a project like this. I guess we will just have to be patient. Juanita
Saw Juanita out riding in her Pink Cadillac-the one she says she won from selling Mary Kay on the side- yesterday with the top down, wind blowing at her decorative hair net, out on Highway Six. Lucky thing Check Point Checky wasn't out there because that girl was doing nearly 45 (give 'em 30, they'll take 35, give 'em 35 and they'll take 40). She's a wild one, that Juanita. No wonder Barney couldn't resist her. New Andy Griffth Product Suggestion
Now here is a brand new idea for a TAGS product. Instead of making animal crackers, why not make TAGS crackers and there could be little crackers made for all the characters from TAGS. Each box could also come with a trivia question with the answer printed on the inside of the box. In certain boxes they could put just one special cracker of maybe a bullet and whoever gets that could send it in for a prize. Kenneth G. "Hound Sound" ?
Harriet, I have noticed that some of the younger folk tend to relate our older songs with cartoon shows. That's no doubt still another sign they are younger than I. I'm no doubt old enough to have possibly shaken hands with the authors of said melodies. LOL TAGS incorporated many of the oldies into the various episodes and that tends to make them even more special to me. We've watched all of our season # 6 episodes and I now feel sorta like I did when I was a kid and I had eaten all of my candy too quickly. I would then wish I had eaten it more slowly so I'd still have some to enjoy. (of course we can run those TAGS episodes again&again) Can't wait till season # 7 comes out! WBMUTBB
Well what a coincidence. I am off work for 8 weeks due to knee surgery and thought I would put in TAGS DVD. To my surprise on season 2 disc 1 episode 2 was the episode you all have been talking about. It is a cute episode. Barney didn't want to give up his bulletin board duties to anybody. Also episode 1 on this disc there is a great scene with Andy and Opie when they are talking about when Andy was bullied around by someone and Opie asks him if the punch hurt Andy.He asks him over and over. Then finally as Opie leaves for school that morning to meet up with his bully he asks him 1 more time if it hurt. When Andy and Opie hug each other that is a priceless TV moment.I sure wish there was a TV show out today with the same values. Broadway remembers Don
At last night's Tony award show, Don Knotts was honored among the many great performers that we lost last year. There he was with Anne Bancroft, Shelley Winters, Darin McGavin and all. What a charming picture they showed. But we have the advantage. He left us Barney to visit our homes whenever we wish. barney's song
I believe it was Crime Free Mayberry when the FBI man claimed Mayberry as the most crime-free city in the US & Mayor Pike was giving them a big ceremony. Andy figured out, of course, that it was a scam when the big city photographer took Andy's photo with the F.B.I. man. "Well, Barney, ya had to be there. Everyone knows F.B.I. men don't allow their pitchers took." He caught them breaking into the Mayberry Security bank. the ending was Barney singing that song and one about Frankie & Johnny--"The Ballad of Andy and Barney" or "The Gangster's Mistake" (Sung to the melody of "Frankie and Johnny") Andy and Barney were lawmen. Bravest you ever did see. Warned every crook in the record book to stay out of Mayberry. They were the law (Yes, they were the law), And they didn't know fear. Pretty Boy Floyd come a ridin'. Dillinger, too, big as life. They weren't alone, There was Al Capone and a Man called Mack the Knife. They broke the law Yes, they broke the law. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

In a message dated 6/11/06 12:02:12 PM Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > Very sadhe is so deserving of this. Any chance of the folks over at > TVLand picking up the ball? > How much does something like that cost? > Evidently the issue isn't the cost, it's the Don Knotts estate releasing the rights to his likeness. CBS was apparently willing to do what they could (and they own TV Land). They own the rights to the Barney Fife character, but the Don Knotts estate own the rights to the actor's likeness and I'm sure a team of attorneys are looking over all the options. Who knows, maybe it'll happen years from now. Dixon ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
