Pepperelli pizza?
>>>Anyway, here are a few more Barney-"isms" for you to consider: >>>pepperelli for pepperoni This is one of those catch phrases that gets mentioned every now and then (it might have started in one of the TAGS books), but Barney never said it. If someone can point out a specific scene in a specific episode, I'm prepared to eat my words. Along the same lines, Humphrey Bogart never said "Play it again, Sam" in Casablanca; Sherlock Holmes never said "Elementary, my dear Watson" in any of Arthur Conan Doyle's stories; and no character in any episode of Star Trek ever said "Beam me up, Scotty." --Paul Mulik ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Barney did smoke
Yes, I had read that Don Knotts did smoke in his younger days and some during TAGS as it was very common for stars in the early 1960s, but then he quit for good. Unfortunately, the damage must have been done since his primary cause of death last year was lung cancer. (He had another cancer too, but I don't think it was the cause of death.) Also, Gavin McLeod's name has been misspelled in some of the posts. He played Gilbert Jammel in "TV or Not TV" as the producer/bank robber and then Byron Bender portraying Andy Taylor in the Hollywood version of "Sheriff Without a Gun". 10-4. Ruta Lee
I remember also seeing Ruta Lee on whatever TV game show involved playing charades. She was hilarious as I recall. She also played a double role in Mayberry like Gavin McLeod: that "college kid" reporter for the unscrupulous businessman as well as the Hollywood starlet, living in the lovely apartment with a fabulous view. She once also said Opie's fave was Butterscoth Pecan. She said Barn's was chocolate layer cake and also made a chocolate banana cream pie for him. Don Knotts Downfall
Well friends, I feel a little stupid after doing some research on whether Don Knotts smoked or not. If you'll remember, Don died of complications related to his lung cancer, which he developed from smoking. So whether Barney Fife was a smoker or not, I think it's obvious that Don Knotts was. desserts by aunt bee
Aunt Bee was known for her Nesslerode Pie (the visiting professor's fave and she made it just like his late wife did. Andy's fave was, I think, Pumpkin pie a ala mode and once she made blueberry pie which Opie fed to baby Evie Joy. Homemade strawberry ice cream she made once. Thelma Lou made peach ice cream and walnut brownies and pecan brownies. Oh and the famous Cashew fudge. delicatible desserts
I know a few of Aunt Bee's favorite desserts including pies: Apple, of course, pecan, rhubarb, and I think banana cream? Cakes include chocolate layer cake, and of course homemade ice cream with strawberrysadd them right at the end! Oh man! But stay away from the marmalade. Must be something in the home canning department that goes wrong... (I'll bet she could make salt-risin' bread too---even if it is misnamed!) Aunt Bee's just desserts
What other desserts did Aunt Bee serve up? dan This may not count as serving up, but she and Clara and another lady were making cakes to sell at the church raffle. That was in Aunt Bee the Warden. Does anyone know which episode it was that Barney asked Thelma Lou, "And what about you and Edgar Coleman?" I want to watch that one again. Thanks. Happy Birthday, Andy!
June 1st - Andy's Birthday... Birthday greetings and best wishes from Saudi Arabia to my favorite Sheriff! There's only one word for it... BIG! Tod "Baron von Rick-toven" in Riyadh Andy: Mrs. Peterson's Fluffy is on the roof again. Barney: This a time for pussycats? With a killer on the loose? A: Well, Fluffy's got kittens, and you know how you feel, seein' your mother on the roof. B: Andy, take this - put it under your shirt. (hands gun to Andy) A: I won't need it, Barn. Fluffy and I've been friends for years. B: OK, but if you get all shot up, I don't wanna hear about it! ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Desserts
>>What other desserts did Aunt Bee serve up?<< Well, I recall her asking if Barney wanted some sort of fudge chocolate layer cake...he declined but accepted her offer to take a hunk of it home with him. :o) She also made some strawberry ice cream--was it in Man in a Hurry or Bailey's Bad Boy?-- and whatever flavor it was that ol' Bradford Taylor wanted to market... Then there was the walnut cake...with the shell fragment...which Helen bit into.
