Tammy Windsor/Karyn Kupcinet issue resolved

2008-08-15 Thread Janet Anderson
Folks, I have been able to resolve the question, "Were Tammy Windsor and Karyn
Kupcinet the same person?" As I mentioned before, I wrote an e-mail to Paul
Fecteau and Kari Kupcinet, niece of Karyn Kupcinet, who are collaborating on a
book about Karyn's life. I received a prompt reply from Mr. Fecteau, as
follows:
  "Dear Ms. Anderson,

Thanks for sharing your interest in Karyn. I can tell you that she was not
Tammy Windsor. The researcher who came up with that notion, and even got IMDB
and Wikipedia to go along with it, has since herself reversed her opinion. If
you have any more questions or comments, please don't hesitate to write me.

  Sincerely,
  Paul"
We now have the definitive answer. Tammy Windsor, who played Hannah Carter in
the first-season episode "A Feud is a Feud," is NOT the same person as actress
Karyn Kupcinet, who died a mysterious death in 1963.

I don't know if Tammy is still out there somewhere, but it eases my mind
greatly to know that she did not meet a tragic and untimely end, as was
suspected.

TVLand Butchers Strike Again

2008-08-15 Thread dudleygl

Well, the scissor-happy boys at the TVLand film lab have struck again.? I
noticed during the Thursday night showing of "The Manhunt" they chose to cut
out the only appearance of Barney's Mother in the series.? I always enjoyed the
scenes where Barney was frisking the Mayor and his Mother.? And it always
cracked me up when she said "But Barney...I'm your Mother."

Open endings

2008-08-15 Thread hyperauntjan1

Do you think

1. Goober and Flora ever got married?

2. When Andy and Helen moved back to Mayberry, they were able to buy the
Williams house? The white one with all the big trees?

3. Since Otis got sober, he might have started the first AA meetings in
Mayberry in the basement of the church?

4. That Gomer made a career of the Marines?

5. Any of the Darling boys ever found a wife?

6. The Widow Saunders finally married the dish towel salesman?

7. The Morrison sisters built another still?

8. They still need a brine tester at the pickel factory?

9. Malcolm retired and settled in Mayberry?

10. Barn got his den with his leather couch and books and a dog?

Guess I've had the bucket on too long!

My favorite season is the first. I love getting to know the characters. They
are funĀ  and light-hearted. I love Andy solving the problems without the
person's knowing .

A Favorite Season of TAGS

2008-08-15 Thread Michael Burch
<<<>>

I'd go with the 5th also.
In fact, my favorite episodes are:

Three Wishes for Opie "in case the Count is listening"
Goober Takes a Car Apart "I won't leave the courthouse unless there's a fire or
famine or I go the the drugstore for a sandwich"
Andy & Helen Have Their Day "...they asked me to stay and have a sandwich"
The Lucky Letter "did you mail it yet, I don't wanna know"
Punch in the Nose "who punched 'cha?"
Aunt Bee's Invisible Beau "sweet tea and spicy talk"
Opie and the Carnival... ("anything wrong with my eyes) .. "why don't you ask
Floyd, he's a barber".

Season 4 would be a close 2nd.
"Got time to breathe, got time for music".

But then, how can you really ever choose. They don't make them like this
anymore. We are all just blessed to have a little part of Mayberry to carry
w/us along life's journey. "You're not talking to a jerk you know".

Re: Favorite Season

2008-08-15 Thread Michael Eury
My favorite season of TAGS is Season Five, the last B&W one, and the
last to feature Barney as a regular.

By that point the writers were in their prime, and they and the actors
fully understood the characters.

Floyd returned, the Andy/Helen dynamic was strong, Barney was a sheer
riot, Goober emerged as a break-out character, and the season sported
some of the run's best episodes: "The Education of Ernest T. Bass,"
"Barney's Uniform," and my all-time favorite, "Three Wishes for Opie,"
to name a few.

Favorite Season

2008-08-15 Thread Ben Sandifer
Regarding the favorite season of TAGS question, I took this to the boys at the
lab and they went to the www.mayberry.com website and carefully studied the
results of the "Favorite Episode" poll.
Out of all the episodes (28 total) that got at least 100 votes, there were 11
from Season 3; 8 from Season 4 and 4 from Season 1. Seasons 2 and 5 had 2 each
and Season 7 had 1.

Then after getting the special at the diner for only 80-cents (I don't know how
they do it), the boys at the lab looked at total votes for these 28 episodes.
Episodes from Season #3 had a total of 4,077 votes, while those in Season #4
had 3,035. So the boys at the lab have come to the conclusion that Season #3
is the best.

A word of warning - if you go around quoting these numbers, someone may accuse
you of reading the magazine section of the Sunday paper again.

One other thought - The episode "Otis The Deputy" in Season #7 had a very high
number of votes (717), while no other episodes in seasons 6-8 even had 100
votes.
Could these voters be confusing this episode with "Deputy Otis" from Season #2?
This might be a documented case of malfeasance. (Curious, curious, curious).
