Falcons
All this talk about Falcons brought back an old High School memory. Our high school mascot was the falcon and I was asked to design a cover for our school newspaper, so I decided to do the falcon. Well I did and it was printed. There was also a disclaimer by the paper editor saying that the picture on the cover was supposed to be a falcon and not a pregnant chicken. My cover didn't appear the entire year. How many times did it appear? Well, actually just that once. It was way ahead of its times. Too controversial. Schools weren't allowed to talk about pregnancy back in 1962. For those of you who question the authenticity of this story. I can verify that it is 100 % true. If I could find my original copy I would send you an official verification. Actually my mother had a nice 1960 Falcon at one time too. It was a light tan. Great little car. But she wouldn't let me use it to go to the duck pond. Actually we didn't have a duck pond for parking. We used the town dump. Now wasn't that romantic. No wonder I could never get a second date with anyone. I was truly down in the dumps in those days. willow chip
Putting a willow chip under the dog's head was from the episode Divorce Mountain Style. Barney had gotten a book of mountain folklore from the library to try to get Andy out of having to marry Charlene. As he was reading through the book, he came across the story about the willow chip before finding the story that they used to help Andy. In reference to another reader's question, the blasting engineer in the episode The Loaded Goat was played by Bing Russell, Kurt's father. And to think.I actually thought of these things without a bucket on my head!! HmmI wonder how much more I could think of if I had worn a bucket on my head. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Bus Stop
TAGS fans, I had to throw in another two cents on the bus stop thing. I live in Dumas, Texas, (pop. 15,000) and we get several buses through a day from at least two different carriers. We don't have a bus station, either. You buy your ticket at a place that does drug tests and you board or get off about two blocks away in front of the dry-cleaners! So don't wait 'til the last minute to buy your ticket because you're probably not going to make it to the dry cleaner's in time! Sam www.tuttles.net P.S. I just wish the dry cleaner were Mr. Goss. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Andy in Hawaii
Last week CBS/Paramount released HAWAII 5-O Season 5, which includes a 1972 comedy/drama episode guest-starring Andy Griffith. Andy and Joyce Van Patten (Opie Moves Up in Class) play husband--wife con artists who inadvertantly rip off a syndicate courier, and wind up targets of the mob... forcing them to help 5-O bring down the crooks, in return for protection. A fun outing, also featuring Harold Sakata (GOLDFINGER's 'Odd-Job') as one of the syndicate gangsters, as well as quirky character actor Grady Sutton (W. C. Fields' costar in THE BANK DICK, THE MAN ON THE FLYING TRAPEZE and YOU CAN'T CHEAT AN HONEST MAN) in a cameo.
