TVLand strikes again!

2008-12-08 Thread Tom Lawrence

Once again, TVLand left me shaking my head.I watched "Crime-free Mayberry" as I
was drifting off to sleep Sunday night — a very pleasant way to end a relaxing
day. At the end of the episode, I smiled waiting for Barney to emerge on stage
as the faux FBI feller was speaking. I could hear that tenor voice ring out:
"We defy the Mafia!"Nope. Cut.The next scene was Andy awaiting the other crook
inside the bank vault. Why do they slice such humor from a show when there's so
much bunk on the channel.I wish they would leave a classic untouched. It's like
some idiot editing Mr. Twain or some fool taking a brush to The Mona
Lisa.TVLand needs to keep its cotton-picking hands off the gold.tom in Rapid
City

Saturday lunch at the Mayberry Cafe

2008-12-08 Thread fgordon
Hi all,
I just wanted to give comment on the Danville, Mayberry Cafe lunch on Saturday.
My darling person, and I enjoyed having vittles with tribute artists, Tim
Pettigrew (Goober), Bob& Pat Mundy (Briscoe Darling), & a newer artist Eric
Lowry ( the fat little Mayor Pike) Jeff & Stephanie Gossett were also with us.
As some of you might already know, Jeff owns a 1963 Ford Galaxie Mayberry squad
car, in which he likes to "Glenn Ford It All Over Town" LOL
The cafe was doing a goodly amount of business that day and the fellows signed
many autographs.
We had a great time visiting together and just talking "Mayberry"
The tribute artist do such a good job of portraying the original stars. Anytime
Mayberry friends get together, you can count on a time of good wholesome fun!
Can't wait till our next opportunity to get together!

Re: Ron Howard on "The Daily Show"

2008-12-08 Thread Dixonhayes
Just wanted to pass word along, Ron Howard was on "The Daily Show" last
week. The interview did have one Mayberry reference--Jon Stewart mentioning
Mayberry as he praised Howard's political viral video, the one with the TAGS
and
"Happy Days" spoofs featuring Andy and Henry Winkler--but most of the
interview dealt with Howard's latest film, "Frost/Nixon." The interview is
available for download on the DS website.

Out of the Loop

2008-12-08 Thread Lisa Ahlers
Hello and I hope everyone is having a Mayberry kinda' day! I have been a bit
out of the loop lately with what's been going on in Mayberry, but am back full
time now to check in on everyone. I just got done listening to my first "Two
Chairs no Waiting" and enjoyed it very much. I would like to put a great big
THANK YOU out there to everyone who is involved with that and to all that have
been a part of this message board for so many years. It is wonderful to come to
a place where everyone shares so many of the feelings of Mayberry.
I am a bit curious about what's going on with all the "cow" and "mosaic" talk.
:-)Can I be filled in on that? Also, does anyone know if the name of Andy's
wife has ever been mentioned on the show and if so, what is it?
Happy Holidays to all,
Lisa ~ Aunt Bea in Iowa

Re: mosaics an' stuff

2008-12-08 Thread Albert

"Ol' Ken talking 'bout mosaics got me to thinking when I was into mosaics. I'd
have cousin
Bessie pick up broken tail an' parking lights from fender benders out by Mr.
Drysdale's bank,
and then I'd package up the red an' amber pieces an' box 'em up into mosaic
kits. I pertiner made
$27.00 selling my "Sunrise and Sunset" kits at the Hooterville swap
meet/pancake breakfast!
That doggone Elly May put me outta' business tho' after Bessie blabbed to her
that I was paying her
below the minimum banana wage."
