I really like the Barney t-shirt on the site but I did not care at all for the
other ones, especially the political ones.

Andy and Barney in Mt. Pilot

2009-06-29 Thread Victor Friskey
I just watched 'Barney Mends a Broken Heart' where Andy had a fight with Peggy
and Barney sets him up with Daphne. To get Andy to go to Mt. Pilot Barney tells
him the
restaurant is selling liquor and they should check it out.
My question. Why would Andy be concerned about what's going on in Mt. Pilot.
It's in Pilot County and one of two sheriff's is there. Either Sheriff Williams
or Blake Wilson. They also have a State Police headquarters, and Mr. Johnston
is the registrar of the Sheriff's Barbershop quartet. Looks like they got
plenty of law enforcement. Why should Andy and Barney get involved univited ?

Pickup Trucks and Mail Splashes from Floor and pool

2009-06-29 Thread GRITTON, JOE A (ATTOPS)

This is the episode where Gomer tries to help a family find a place
to
stay the night, and he ends up housing them in a shack in the Marine
Target Range.

...and you may recall near the end of that episode, the Model AA truck
gets
blown up! I imagine they had two on the lot which is why it seemed to

survive another day to be the Darling family truck on season 7 of The
Andy
Griffith Show. Dixon

Dixon, you may be right, but after a closer watch..I'm not sure the
truck was really destroyed. They had a nice fireball coming out of the
bed..and it looked pretty nasty from a distance, but that may have been
all special effects. If Opie can clean up a mashed penny...maybe the
stage crew could restore a somewhat blackened truck for the
Darlings...makes you think I know the chassis was still on four
wheels when Gomer went over to grab the suspenders.

As for the Mail slot discussion... I would presume there were a few
times they had to lock up, even though it was a public building
Overall the mail slot is just one of those inconsistencies we love to
spot.

Tom K,
You are quite the man for admitting the mistake on that background
actor. I had said early on that he was just in color, but I deferred to
your expertise and the other gentleman working with you. IF I
admitted/corrected all my mistakes in here..there wouldn't but much room
for new stuff ;). We'll watch for your guy, and maybe someday create a
webpage for him like we did for Tom Jacobs and Nice Dress Nellie. We
need a Digest name for him,,like Nice Dress Nellie and Horn-rimmed Harry
( a BW mystery guy) any thoughts?? Check-Looker Chuck?? Siggy??

Does anyone know the exact dialog where Andy and Barney were trying to
figure who people were by looking in the yearbook and Andy was pointing out
about a certain fellow who was involved in a lot of sports and Barney says:
Oh yeah, I remember now, he was always sweating! One of my favorite TAGS
lines.Thanks!

Frankly,

Now that I have all 8 years uncut on DVD, it had become annoying to see
butchered episodes on TV Land.

Andy's Hand

2009-06-29 Thread hyperauntjan1
Hey - maybe Andy got called out to the Boone place again and Jenny threw a
chicken at him and the beak injured his hand.

Maybe he was back at the Tip Top and Skippy's friend Al?got into it with?him
again.

Maybe Andy and Barn were doing another pickle switch and he cut himself on a
jar.

Actually, what I heard down at the drugstore from Emma was that Barney got mad
and shot Andy in the hand! They say he's gone.

Peggy

 That would SMART!

TVLand

Does anyone know when TAGS is being aired on the Roseanne Network, aka TV Land?
I'm trying not to violate rule no. 2, but I'm looking for TAGS and can't find
it any more. I only can find Roseanne, Married with Children or She's Got the
Look. I agree that TV Land has been a good friend to TAGS over the years, but
I'm having a hard time even finding one episode of TAGS at all now. Does
anyone know when to catch the world's greatest show?

Andy's Lost Years

2009-06-29 Thread DAVID QUINN

I put my thinking bucket on the other day, and I got to thinking about Andy's
lost years. Andy and Barney speak quite frequently about their school years
that ended in 1946, naming teachers and classmates and even naming the years
they met and the clubs they belonged to. And of course in 1960 we met Andy and
knew all about him after that. But the years from 1946 until 1960 are quite a
mystery. Andy mentioned once that he served in the military, so that would
account for a couple of years. And we know that sometime before 1953 he
married, because in about 1954 he had a son. But Andy has never spoken of
having any other job (except the military) before he was elected sheriff. We
can be almost sure that he did not come straight back from the military and win
election as sheriff, because as with any election it takes a few years of
politicking and back slapping to line up your votes. My thoughts on this
subject was that when he came back from the military, he was hired as a deputy
(like Barney), since that was a hired job and not an election. But the trouble
with that is in one episode (I think it is The Punch in The Nose), Andy names
all of the previous sheriffs for Barney. When he does this he does not say
something like And I was his deputy, which would only be a natural thing to
say. All we know for sure is Andy held down some sort of job between 1948 and
1954, but it is never mentioned. We can be pretty sure he was not a mechanic,
he never worked on the squad car. Doesn't seem to be a carpenter either. Does
anyone have a guess what he might have been?

retirement plan in that though.

TV Land

2009-06-29 Thread mark brown

I have been enjoying the TV Land Mayberry Marathons on the weekends.
TV Land has totally gotten away from what they used to be.  I wish there was a
station out there that had only shows from 1950's to 70's or 80's!  I don't
enjoy TV Land much at all anymore.
Also i wanted to mention that The Ghost and Mr. Chicken is one of my favorite
movies of all time.  It has a sort of Mayberry feel to it as well.  Someone
told me recently that Andy Griffith actually helped write or direct it.  I keep
meaning to look it up--but i'll leave it to the experts.  Is that true?

I'd rather be fishing in VA
