Right and Right

2009-08-04 Thread GRITTON, JOE A (ATTOPS)
First of all, I live it when there is a crowd on the street In Mayberry,
and the number of Digest messages in the last few days if like one of
those wonderful crowds.

Thanks everyone so far on the help with Stunt Doubles/ body doubles. I
think this is an interesting topic for trained noticers. I'm surprised
no one scolded me about Aunt Bee's west double when she revealed the
Badge in the Christmas episode. I could be wring, but I don't think she
was quite that petite at that point in her acting life.

Tom K, you are right about a Driver for Floyd and you too Helen..er I
mean Ginger.

You and Bob are also right about the mystery man that you call
Schwamp's brother, Very interesting. I thought he was only in Color
episodes. We may have to post him in the Mayberry Historical
Society/Gossip Club along with Nice Dress Nellie, Tom Jacobs, and Joe
Hamilton

I will say this for Garry and the Bar sign. You do see strange
signs at times on the 40 acres lot...and the show is inconsistent at
times about the dry county..though we know that there was not such a
business operating in Mayberry, otherwise Otis would not have hand to
depend on moon-shiners.

...good comment about the stunt driver in the Gold truck episode. That
could have also been the case when Barney pulled the trailer, and when
they chase the lady speeder and Ron Bailey.

...about you Krispy Kremers..don't forget, the Bakery did come late in
the series..Millie worked there and they did have donuts

Keep all the topics going... no hurry to get back to your homes and
places ob business
The Untrained Voice
I wonder my by body double could eat the Krispy Kremes, but I taste and
enjoy them??

2009-08-04 Thread Garry Dallman
I'm not sure Barney ever had a stunt Double. How could they find
someone with his build?

I wonder if Burt Mustin was Barney's stunt double. Same brawny, musclebound
build. Burt might have been able to do the rough stuff but, remember, he
just couldn't holler.

Soon i Can Rest On My Laurels

2009-08-04 Thread tom kessel
thanks to the kind lady to confirm my fact that Howard McNear had a double
in Goobers Contest. The back head view with the thin neck is so obviously
not our Floyd. But now i can start resting on my laurels knowing my long
search for Mr. Schwamps brother is bringing positive feedback from loyal
fans. the pictures Bob are fantastic. We have at last a face to go with the
character. Thats him allright.Albert and Bob well done. This is what makes
Allans website all the more exciting. we set out to solve a mystery. An old
yet new Mayberryian finally getting the attention he deserves. Like his
younger brother, he has no actual actors name but he's a Mayberryian and
thats all that counts.God bless all of you more than ever. Tom Kessel

Re: Bar in Mayberry...

2009-08-04 Thread zumafan
There couldn't have been a bar sign in Mayberry since everyone knows it's a
dry
county!

except in the christmas episode - ben sells spirits in his store.

which brings me to another point. in that episode, ben walks around to the
right of the jail, apparently goes to the back and looks in the window. except
it seems like he couldn't get to it that way. when he is looking in the
window, there is a brick wall to his left. often wondered just how he
negotiated that...

Hey I dated a few girls in high school who could have been Barney's double.
Come to think of it I dated a few who could have been a double for Otis.

OMG - Spirits in Mayberry

2009-08-04 Thread hyperauntjan1
I totally forgot about Ben complaining that moonshiners were competition to him
selling spirits in his store! It's not possible that his store was outside the
county line because it is right in Mayberry.

That just frosts me!

Maybe there's something about this I don't know.

Street Scenes

2009-08-04 Thread davebaugh1

I have noticed when ever there is a scene shot on the streets of Mayberry there
are always  car horns honking. Seems like over kill for such a small town. Must
be a lot of impatient folks in Mayberry. I wonder what causes that?

apologies and dual sighting

2009-08-04 Thread GRITTON, JOE A (ATTOPS)
Boy I'm going to have to apologize for my bad typing in yesterday's
Digest. Sorry about that haste and sloppiness.

Among other things I meant to say waist model when speaking of Aunt
Bee's badge in the Christmas episode. I won't address all my errors.
It would take too long.
I typed like Otis. Or Barney, but I wasn't tipsy, I promise.

Interesting tidbit on the Dinner at Eight episode. Goober comes into
Andy's house with a large suitcase under his arm. Do you reckon the
same guy fixed his handle and the one that Andy had sewed on before he
went to Hollywood??(and then it broke right away).

Tom and Bob. If you want to see your mystery man (I call him Siggy
Short Italian Guy, you call him Mr. Schwamp's brother---and you guys
discovered him) in the same scene as the real Mr. Schwamp..check out
Off to Hollywood, where the guys are looking at the check. They are
both there in Andy's office!!

Stunt for Barney

2009-08-04 Thread colonialcott...@netzero.net
The one stunt I remember seeing that made me wonder if Don Knotts really did
it, was the show about A Medal for Opie. When Barney has Andy lie on his back
on the front porch of Andy's house. Barney sits on Andy's feet and tells him
to push his legs up for strengthening muscles in the legs. Barney shoots out
of the camera and they cut the scene. Then he walks back in the scene. It
looks like Barney shooting up in the air, but is it?
I know I read somewhere that Don Knotts really hated doing the scenes where a
car almost runs him over when he crosses the street. They had to do take after
take and he didn't like it one bit!
It didn't hurt him, caused he's braced for it, right Barn?

Tuesday night's episode of the Two Chairs No Waiting Mayberry Podcast

Don Knotts Stunt Double

Don's stunt double was Jerry Brutsche; he is credited in Barney's
Sidecar. He is also list in practically every Don Knotts movie made even
the Don Knotts Television Show. Jerry was also in The 2 Every Which Way
but Loose Movies as the sweeper driver and as one of the Black Widows.

Mr. Schwamp's brother

2009-08-04 Thread Janet Anderson
I have included a link below to view two photos taken from the episode Up
In Barney's Room from the 4th season. My friend, Tom Kessel, has referred
to this character actor as Mr. Schwamp's brother in previous posts but just
discovered that he was actually in a black white episode. Take a look and
see what you think. Bob

I've looked at the photos and, yes, this is the same fellow, I'm sure, who has
to scoot out of the way of a car in one of the episodes. Like Tom, I haven't
yet been able to find the particular episode, but I'm sure we'll track down
this scene eventually.
