Sarah and Juanita
I always picture Sarah as a little old lady sitting in her bedroom in front of the switchboard. The switchboard has to be close to her bed because she answers it 24/7 She is always dressed in a robe because she never leaves the house so why bother getting dressed each day. Because she doesn't leave the house very often I imagine she is quite lonely so she has a houseful of cats to keep her company. As far as Juanita, just because of her name, I picture her as having long dark hair as she may be of Hispanic heritage, although Beasley might prove otherwise. Of course she could have been married to a man named Beasley at one time. Now this is all conjecture on my part. I picture her with lots of make-up and she is always chewing gum. You know Mayberry is in NC,and we know it snows in NC. But, does anyone recall any snow or discussion of snow on the show? We know it rained and flooded and we know it was hot and cold but what about snow? When the 3.8 earthquake hit, I thought that it was a blast of arctic air hitting the building. The entire building shook. I don't know if maybe where they filmed in California maybe they did not have snow. I don’t have any real personal familiarity with North Carolina, other than having visited the Triangle, Chapel Hill and Asheville areas several times. But isn’t it correct that there are areas of the state where snow would be, if not completely unknown, just a light dusting at most? Today is the 11th day of the month of February. Barney Fife was arrested and incarcerated on the 11th day of the month for an illegal U-Turn. When Barney is in the cell, and Andy walks through the front door, Barney grabs a marker and marks the 11th day of the month off of the calendar in the jail. The 11th is also Otis' anniversary. When Otis came into the jail to see Barney, he said today is my anniversary, the 27th anniversary of my first drink. And of course every month I always remember the 11th in rememberance of 9/11. Hey Mayberry Friends. I saw Tied up in Knotts in Mt. Airy at Mayberry Days this past year. I hope she returns next time because it was so entertaining. She provides insight into her father not only as Barney Fife, but as an accomplished actor, comedian, father and husband. She shares memories, film and photos of her dad. Also, she made herself available offstage to talk and answer questions. If you get a chance to meet her or see her show definitely do it! I don't mean to make a moulage of our little quake but after I got out of bed I wondered if the particle accelerator next door had blown up. I live next door to Fermi National Accelerator (Fermilab) where they race nuclear particles around in a circle and shoot them at targets. The guy it's named after is Enrico Fermi, the guy that split the atom underneath the bleachers at University Of Chicago. Never fear shadows.
