Otis Campbell trivia

2010-05-10 Thread King of Mayberry
That would be Sept. 23, 1941 at 2:00 pm. We learned that in "The Case of the
Punch in the Nose" episode.

A harder question is: Give the month, day and year that Otis took his first
drink!

Mr. Schwamp

Tears on my pillow

2010-05-10 Thread Lee Cooper
This year was the first mother's day without my mom. Like myself she
was also a big fan of the show. One of her very favorite episodes was
"Class Reunion". I can remember us singing Mayberry Union High at the
end of the show. I love this episode and feel like the epilogue is one
of the most touching scenes from the entire series. This is just one
special memory of so many that I have from this wonderful show. I know
how Barn felt. The tears on my pillow did bespeak the pain in my
heart. Keep a good thought always.

re: One-Shots

2010-05-10 Thread PLV
I’m not sure whether these single-shots have already been mentioned:
Karen Moore, Thelma Lou’s cousin from Arkansas
Mary Grace, Thelma Lou’s unattractive cousin
Barney’s Cousin Virgil
Bert Miller, the unaggressive door-to-door salesman
Mr. McCabe, the owner of the mansion that Barney wanted to co-opt for the
international summit meeting
Newton Munroe, the inept street vendor
Roger Hanover, Aunt Bee's former flame

Technically, Mayor Pike’s daughter did return in a 2nd episode. But she was
Juanita Pike when she sang “Flow Gently, Sweet Afton” and Josephine Pike when
she competed in The Beauty Contest.

And wasn’t the car repair customer of Gomer’s whose car had the squeaky shocks
the same band member in “What’s Your Hurry?” whose hearing was so bad he
misunderstood everything Andy tried to say to him?

Re: funniest ep & one shots

2010-05-10 Thread Dixonhayes
My pick for funniest episode: "Barney's Sidecar." Some hysterical
dialogue (Barney describing riding with his mouth open and not pronouncing the
letter "s", Aunt Bee comparing him to a Nazi) and a brilliant sight gag
straight out of the Marx Brothers.

One shots:
The guy who ran the drugstore when Opie was working there.
Gomer's car repair customers who followed him to Andy's house when he lost
his job at Wally's.
Mayor Pike's daughter who sang "Flow Gently Sweet Ashton."
The "Romeo & Juliet" couple from the first season and their entire
families.
Mr. Jenkins the insurance man, played by a pre-Howard Jack Dodson.

Thank you Larry for the kind words on my "civics essay."

Eagles Wings and a wedding

2010-05-10 Thread david browning

Hey Friends,

Just a note to let everyone know that it was a complete joy to be at Eagles
Wings again this year. Otis (Ken Junkin), Floyd (our web guru), Goober (Tim
Pettigrew), Brisco (Bob Mundy) and Gomer (Gary Crain) and Sam were a blast to
work with. We sure did miss our Opie (Jamie Sullivan) but wish him the best as
he prepares for a life of service. From the golf tournament to the Blue
Angels and the auction on Friday night we all had a great time. It is awesome
to see what Jerry and Sandra Pike have been able to accomplish in a few short
years and even more awesome to realize that all their hard work is based in
love for their son Joey and all the other special kids at Eagles Wings.

Also, I wanted everyone to know that I sit here in Denver Colorado in
anticipation of my son's wedding on Saturday the 15th of May. He has always
been a source of joy and laughter in mine and Patty's lives and we are so happy
he has found the love of his life. Both of our daughters are arriving on
Tuesday and it will be the first time our entire family will be together since
our daughter married last August.

Please keep us all in your thoughts.

Please also check out my new web site that is on line. The link is below. I
will try to keep it up to date once all this marriage stuff is complete.

Peace,

Ah folks don't let Dan's knowledge get to you. I think it is a pure case of

Wouldn't you know his name would be Dan?

The funniest episode for me is Citizen's Arrest. The way Gomer says "Citizen's
Arrest" and then the way that Barney mimics Gomer saying it are just hilarious
to me!!

Otis's first arrest

2010-05-10 Thread Mike Haviland
I know I know, Otis was first arrested Sept. 23 1941 at 2:00pm at the Mayberry
garden club flower show. He was passed out in somebodies poppies.  And the
reason I know Mr Schump told me. He was standing in a stag line. If you don't
believe him check episode 152 "a punch in the nose". Personally I think we
should re-open the case!! Mike "The Scamp" Haviland ps Hail to the "King" We
