"The Rivals" Episode

2010-05-19 Thread dewey lamb

Opie introduces Karen Burgess to Andy and then shows her "the layout"---the
file cabinet,

the gun rack, the cells, and "the door I go through when I empty out the trash
baskets."

My question is:where is the bathroom?Opie certainly didn't show it to Karen. The
cells

have no toilets, although one cell does have a sink.Even back then,I would
surmise that

the prisoners would have to be afforded facilities.

Just wondering

Re: Left Door

2010-05-19 Thread Terrell McEntyre
Since nobody hazarded a guess except Ken (which was incorrect), I'll give
the correct answer. The one time "only" the left door was open was in the
first episode, "The New Housekeeper". Barney arrested Emma Brand for
jaywalking and pulled her into the courthouse through the left door. Andy
came in a moment later to save her from the "Naughty Deputy!"

I would think the only time the left door was open was when Andy and
Barney opened both doors so Otis could come through riding his cow.

some people take Andy's lessons too seriously

2010-05-19 Thread David Switzer
I have to tell on my 35 year old son, who is a huge fan of TAGS. While
discussing the episode where Opie has a crush on Thelma Lou and makes a pest of
himself, according to Barney. My son took Andy's little speech about what grown
women do on dates...shopping, visiting her mother, etc. and he totally believed
that was what dating a woman was really like. He said that he believed that for
years and years. No wonder he is still a bachelor. Come to think of it, my 30
year old son is a bachelor too. They could be Gomer and Goober, except they're
brothers, not cousins.
ANDREA "BARN!!! They're doin' it!!!" "Way to go Andy!"

The Andersons of Maple Street

2010-05-19 Thread DAVID QUINN

Of course the answer to the question "What famous television family with a
son and 2 daughters lived on Maple Street in Springfield", was James Anderson,
Margaret Anderson, Betty Anderson, (also known as Princess), James Anderson
Jr., (also known as Bud), and Kathleen Anderson, (also known as Kathy or
Kitten).

I was a little disappointed that anyone would answer "The Simpsons" because
from what very little I have seen of this show (less than a full show), the
standards (children disrespecting their parents, parents drinking to excess)
are just not up to The Andy Griffith Show or Father Knows Best.

One more little trivia bit, since I am a real big fan of old time radio, when
Father Knows Best premiered on radio in 1949, the family name was Henderson,
not Anderson.

Question Marks and Great Lines

2010-05-19 Thread Harry Brewbaker
I want to check Paul question mark theory. I'll just single space between
sentences and if I make a typo, I won't correct it.  I hate those blame
question marks.

Sandy, I have a different favorite line from the haunted house episode.  It was
on our local station yesterday and I couldn't wait until Barney and Gomer run
out of the Rimshaw House and Barney realizes Andy didn't come out with them.
Gomer looks over and says "Guess that makes you sheriff now". Cracks me up
everytime.  Might get a questions mark on that last sentnece. I double spaced
and went back and made a correction.

Good Day to all my Mayberry friends,

MAPLE STREET QUESTION

2010-05-19 Thread Mike Peacock

Howdy,

I could have swore that I answered this question the day it came out, in
fact I think it appeared right after it was asked on Monday's digest. It
must have been invisible to some, lol.

For those that missed it monday, here's a re-run

(POSTED 5/16)
Howdy,

The trivias are great! Keep'em coming!! This one is good because of it's
TAGS

connection, Elinor Donahue. The answer is Father Knows Best, with the
Andersons who lived on Maple St.

Two Chairs No Waiting 84: Sid Elson, Proprietor

2010-05-19 Thread Allan Newsome

http://TwoChairsNoWaiting.com/

*** Two Chairs No Waiting 84: Sid Elson, Proprietor ***

Who is Sid Elson, what is he proprietor of, and how does this connect to
The Andy Griffith Show. Those are really good questions and in this
episode we’re going deep into some trivial trivialities to get answers
that I believe you’ll enjoy.

For a minute I thought I’d discovered something but WBMUTBB's very own
Paul Mulik beat me to it…by more than 5 years. There are screen captures
of the things we’ll talk about over on our Facebook fan page
(http://www.facebook.com/twochairs/).

We’ll also talk just a bit about the Burke on Mayberry podcast
(http://mayberry.com/podcasts/category/burke-on-mayberry/).
