Thanks for all the Thoughts

2010-08-26 Thread Ken Anderson
Thanks to all of you who contacted me with your thoughts about whether or
not I have to cover the police light. I loved the suggestion of using Mr.
Schwamp's hairpiece. I really laughed out loud at that one. I finally have
decided that I will not cover it. The majority of police officers I talked
with assured me there will be no problem and after talking with other people
who have Mayberry cars in Wisconsin it is quite clear it is not going to be
an issue. I was at a car show tonight and a gentleman brought his restored
1959 ambulance. It had four large revolving red lights on top as well as
three large sirens. He said he has never covered the lights in 10 years and
has never had a problem. So if anyone thinks I might be the constable of
Eau Claire because of the Thingamajig on the top of my car I will know he is
probably from somewheres else. Maybe Eckmondwight England. I belong to a
large church of 2500 members and have already been asked if I could dress in
my uniform and bring the car to our preschool and give the kids rides in it
with the siren going and light flashing in the large parking lot we have.
Now that will really be fun. Good thing we had enough money to blacktop the
parking lot and we did it without stimulus money from the government.

Perry Como

2010-08-26 Thread jlj9675
Didn't get in on the Perry Como discussion earlier but I've been a fan since
a little child as my folks fostered a love of all kinds of music in our
home, beginning with the radio before we got a TV. I had always hoped to see
Mr. Como in person but alas, did not, before he went to Heaven. I read a
book about him; he was a wonderful person.

Larry, if you contact the jury duty folks and explain the situation, they
will more than likely let you delay till later. I've often done that for
various reasons.

Re: WBMUTBB Digest, Vol 11, Issue 247

2010-08-26 Thread Bcunnin107

After some research ordnance is ammunition or explosives and ordinance is a
ocal law.

Sorry to have missed out on this one folks, but being an "expert lawyer" I can
tell you beyond a reasonable doubt that Ordinance is a local law, and ordnance
is a supply of weapons, ammunition, etc (In real life I am a municpal
lawyer and enforce ordinances all day long in court)

Now here in the South, however, the two words are probably pronounced in an
identical manner which adds to the confusion.

Well, off to Mt. Pilot to get a new suit...

RE: Squad cars impersanating Mayberry squad car

2010-08-26 Thread Harriet Browder

>I have numerous people about the laws regarding driving the car on roadways

Some years back right here in St. Petersburg a guy walked into a 7-11 wearing a
baseball cap with the letters LAPD on it and was arrested for impersanating an
officer. All he was doing was buying a soda and candy bar. So I'd be careful
driving a non-official looking vehicle around these parts of the country. How
do the squad cars get away with it at Mayberry Days? I suppose Mt. Airy Police
turns a blind eye for the festival.

Lights and Bow-ties

2010-08-26 Thread Harry Brewbaker
Ken,  Sorry to here about the laws of Wisconsin regarding your light.  Hope
that doesn't take the fun out of it.  I'm sure you would have liked to hide a
block down the street from your pastor's house and light him up as he goes by.
Maybe you ought to do it anyway.  Chances of getting caught are slim.

Sande, you must be showing your youth.  Unfortunately, I'm old enough to
remember being a small child and wearing a pre-tied bow-tie to church every
Sunday.  And that was definately prior to the debut of TAGS.

On Friday morning the Andy Griffith Museum will be unveiling a new exhibit
thanks to George Lindsey's donation detailed in the link above. This should
have
gone out to the Digest earlier, so hopefully anyone within a short drive is
already aware of the event and can attend.

Larceny

Holland, I found one definition of larceny on
www.thefreedictionary.comwhich is breach
of trust with fraudulent
intent-
larceny after trust rather than after unlawful taking.

Maybe that's what Andy meant.

Larceny ?

2010-08-26 Thread Holland Shoaf

Got your attention ?
Was watching the episode where Howard Sprague gets tricked by his study pal
Tommy . Tommy cons Howard to stop studying with him by having him drive his sis
to a dance hall. Howards there dancing too ! Andy goes to check in on Howard.
I got the biggest laugh watching Howard walking by Andy and unknowingly give
him an "anybodys " hi on the initial face to face contact.

Back to Larceny.

At the end of the show Andys scolding Howard for forgetting his priority study
plans and explains how Tommy is a smart boy and has alot of "Larceny" in him. I
looked up the word and the only definiton I could find was the bad one we all
know about.

That kid is a smart kid and hes got alot of larceny in him and he outfoxed you.

Whats your take on the word? Is my hearing going bad or am I going deaf ?

ps. Its good to know that real friends will go out of their way to help friends
get back on their way.
