bowties and squadcar

2010-08-27 Thread Pat Coleman
Bob, you can purchase bowties at www.beautiesltd.com , they are located in
Vermont. Hope this helps.

Ken, make sure your squadcar light goes counter-clockwise. You will have a
blast with your car, we certainly have enjoyed ours. "Remembering Mayberry"

Perry Como

2010-08-27 Thread Maurine Taylor
When my parents were first married--before I came along to put a crimp in their
social life--they often went dancing, and being in the big city of Chicago they
had the opportunity to dance to a lot of the big bands.  One night the "boy
singer" with the band was Perry Como.  He spotted my dad and spent his whole
break between sets sitting and talking with them at their table. Why?  Because
he could spot another Italian a mile away.  And Mother always said my dad had
"the map of Italy on his face."  But they never met Bobby Fleet.

Mr. Schwump

2010-08-27 Thread DAVID QUINN

Regarding Mr. Schwump talking on TAGS. Today I was watching the episode "The
Fun Girls". In the scene with Thelma Lou, Helen, Gomer, and Goober at the
dance, when they are conversing, you can look over their sholder and see Mr.
Schwump sit down at a table behind them. Mr. Schwump has a bottle of soda pop
with a straw in it, and he is sitting across from another person. While Gomer
is talking in the foreground, you can see Mr. Schwump's lips moving, and once
he shrugs his sholders. So in my opinion, that is proof positive that Mr.
Schwump talkied on the Andy show. Of course, no one heard what he said.

Count Ist Van teleky (sp?)

2010-08-27 Thread Bcunnin107

Hey - I like the idea of covering the police car light with Mr. Schwump's
hairpiece. However, if it is not available maybe you can rub a lamp and Count
Ist Van Telecky can make it disappear for a while? (I don't know how to spell
his name)

squad cars

2010-08-27 Thread Ctmidway57
Could be Mayberry Squad Cars in North Carolina get away with having red
lights on them is because NC police use blue lights. Red lights are for fire
engines and EMS and a Mayberry car does not resemble either of them!!
That's my story and I'm a'stickin' with 'er!!

On Friday morning the Andy Griffith Museum will be unveiling a new

thanks to George Lindsey's donation detailed in the link above. This

gone out to the Digest earlier, so hopefully anyone within a short
drive is

already aware of the event and can attend.

Bow Ties

2010-08-27 Thread Ken Anderson
Back in the '70's I occasionally wore a bow tie while teaching. It was
called a "butterfly" tie because it was so large. It was a clip on type.
The only other time I wore a bow tie was when I wore a black one when I got
married in 1970 and that had a elastic band that went around your neck and
clipped together on the back. We can't forget that Cousin Virgil also wore
a bow tie and even Opie wore one when Malcolm got him all dressed up for
dinner.

Don Knotts on "Matlock"

2010-08-27 Thread Jerome Graber

I happened to see an epsiode of "Matlock" the other day. I had never watched
the program when it was on it's original run.
Don Knotts made an appearance in a few scenes. It was great to see the Andy &
Don together.
Was he a regular on this show or was this just a one time thing?
