Dogs
Barney also referred to girls as "dogs". Now, personally, I wouldn't mind taking out a girl who was a dog. Why she would probably jump up on my lap and start licking my face. I could scratch her behind the ears and then she would roll over and I could scratch her belly. But that's as far as it would go, because I am a gentleman, even though I am not from Boston. What is an insult to one person is a compliment to another. I think Calvin Coolidge said that. -- Ken Anderson The Mayberry Guru 2906 May Street Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54701 www.mayberryreflections.com ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Holland's Question
Now when Barney is referring to her as an albatross is he 1. referring to her as a woman with a long crooked nose. 2 A worriesome burden that is always meddling in their affairs or C. Both ? Holland: That is also one of my favorite episodes! I would hope that Barney meant that Lydia was a worrisome burden (#2) and not criticize her lack of attractive physical attributes. That would be cruel but you know he often spoke without thinking (no bucket I guess) so anything is possible. Bob ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Don Knotts will best be remembered as Ralph Furley on Three's Company....What??
I was just on foxnews.com and they had a special story called "Then/Now-Who's Still Kickin'?" and Don Knotts was featured. Here's what it said about him... Don Knotts PASSED ON The comedic actor spent many years on "The Andy Griffith Show" from 1960-1968. But it was his role as landlord Ralph Furley on "Three's Company" that he will be remembered for. He died on Feb. 24, 2006 from complications due to lung cancer. He was 81. What was this person that wrote this thinking? When I think of Don Knotts, I automatically think of Barney! My Sunday Dinner Guest
The Taylors were always inviting company for dinner. Of course Barney was a regular as was Helen Crump. Gomer ate there when he was a guest, and they had the new doctor, Clara, and Floyd. Howard was a guest as was Fred Goss, Congressman Canfield, Professor St. John, and the visiting minister. Aunt Bee even invited Colonel Harvey and the bug specialist Mr. Wheeler. They also hosted the entire Darling family on several occasions and even good old Ernest T. Bass. They had Big Fred Pruitt for lunch too. However, I don't recall ever seeing Thelma Lou or Goober eating at the dining room or kitchen table. So I would have to invite one of them, and I think it would be Goober, seeing he lives alone in that rooming house and has to eat all his meals out. I think I would make him a big meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. For dessert a strawberry pie with real whipped cream. -- Ken Anderson The Mayberry Guru 2906 May Street Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54701 www.mayberryreflections.com ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
