Valentine's Day gift giving

2013-02-12 Thread Albert A

Laura Lee Hobbs, over at the Mayberry Five & Dime, told me that they still have
plenty of the Miracle Salve gift tubs available for Valentine's Day. These
one-gallon tubs, says Hobbs, come with an applicator dauber and are fancy
wrapped in pink cellophane and silk ribbon. H makes me wish that I
hadn't already bought my best gal those two dozen glass canning jars with
scratched lids.

IRS Agent in Mayberry

2013-02-12 Thread dewey lamb

In the episode "Aunt Bee on TV",she wins several prizes on a game show while
in Hollywood.Upon the Taylor's return to Mayberry,an IRS agent comes to town
and
stops by the barber shop and asks the whereabouts of Andy Taylor.Upon meeting
Andy,
the agent states that Aunt Bee owes taxes on the prizes. My question is,why
would he be
looking for Andy as opposed to Aunt Bee,who actually won the prizes?

Walker Store Robbery

2013-02-12 Thread Larry

In the episode "Andy the Matchmaker" with Miss Rosemary and the alleged Drug
Store Robbery.  If I saw that correctly when Andy was talking with the Sheriff
on the phone and got off the phone, he said we have to drop the charges of the
Drug Store Robbery and hold him for extradition.  Yet Barney gets a right up in
the paper that he solves the Drug Store Robbery.  This seems like it should
have been, Barney nabs Criminal wanted other state or something like that.
Wonder if this was a oversite, or just maybe they couldn't come up with a
better ending.  Just thinking! Also I liked Miss Rosemary, wish she had been in
more episodes.

episode.Mr.Frisbee has a
hidden moonshine still that Opie uncovers during the state's demolitition of
said property.Towards
the end of the episode, you can see a bulldozer with the brand name Case written
on the side of the
dozer, with the model name Terratrac written on the front.

Aunt Bee Suitors

2013-02-12 Thread DAVID QUINN

I noticed that someone voted for Floyd to be Aunt Bee's significant other.
That got me to thinking if Aunt Bee and Floyd did get married, I guess Carl
Benson and the Wildcats would play "Roses of Picardy" at their
weddingOrville
Hendricks - Mount Pilot Butter and Egg Man. Martha always says a man is never
complete unless he is married. Then he is finished.

Old filming studios

2013-02-12 Thread Rick
I was surfing the internet to find where an old western show was filmed. I have
always been interested in behind the scenes or where shows were done. I ran
across this website:http://www.retroweb.com/tv_studios_and_ranches.html
If you scroll down to "Desilu-Cahuenga" studios, you will see some info on The
Andy Griffith Show. If you get time check out the whole website and links for
all kinds of shows of the 50-70's. Anyway I thought it was interesting and
thought I'd pass it along. I don't know if you all may have seen this. I'm not
sure if I have seen it. But then again, I don't remember what I had for
breakfast yesterday.

Brand names on TAGS

2013-02-12 Thread paulmulik
Throughout its entire run, TAGS was sponsored by General Foods, maker of Post
cereals and many other fine products. In the cereal industry, besides Post the
other major brands include General Mills and Kellogg's.

In Opie's Newspaper, when the boys are in the garage, observant viewers may
have spotted shipping cartons for Cheerios and Frosted Flakes, BOTH of which
were/are produced by the major competitors of General Foods. I hope the
sponsors weren't trained noticers, or they would have been very upset at this.

It is common knowledge, to Mayberry folks, that Andy and Sharon Despain were
chosen couple of the year in both their junior and senior years of high school.
Well, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then and things have
changed. Being that Valentine's Day is coming this Thursday, I would like for
us to select a Mayberry Valentine Couple of the Year for 2013. I watched a lot
of episodes and I think I have selected some outstanding couples for you to
consider. So once again, if you would be interested in voting, just send your
choice to me at themayberryg...@gmail.com and your vote will be official. Here
are the nominations for 2013 Mayberry Valentine Couple of the Year.

Andy and Helen
Barney and Thelma Lou
Aunt Bee and John Canfield
Floyd and Madeline Grayson
Sam and Millie
Gomer and Mary Grace
Opie and Mary Alice Carter
Mr. Schwamp and Nice Dress Nellie
Ernest T. and Romaina
Goober and Flora
Howard Sprague and His Mother
Charlene Darling and Doug Wash

I will post the winning couple next Monday, February 18. You will have to
await the official verification before finding out the winner.
