Black and white vs. color and Andy's anger
Black and White vs.. Color? and Andy's Anger. Still it was all so real. No episodes contrived, all very true situations in life. I think the writers sensing the change of times, were doing their best to keep up with it since the show was supposed to be taking place in present times. As for Andy getting outwardly angry at Bee for not " calling the man", the point was she was just trying to save money for him and he failed to see that, thus the unnecessary frustration he felt. Its a situation that many of us if not most I'll bet, have experienced along the way, right? I see the same pattern through the rest of the color episodes. if one was to dig deep enough I bet there are Biblical foundations for most of them. Depending on the interpretation of course, as they were different times with different meaning for many words. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Alan Jackson's rendition
I rather enjoyed Alan Jackson's rendition of There is a Time as he stuck so close to the original (minus a female voice); I especially enjoyed his side-kick's banjo solo! I was surprised at his weight gain tho; as a chubster I can sympathize. I haven't followed C/W music since my beloved passed away as all the songs made me think too much of him and end up crying so I returned to pop music. But this is one CD I will buy for sure! Thanks Harriet for the link as I wouldn't have thought of it! Aunt Bee of Orlando ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Hal Smith
We were at our 50th event this summer with the squad car and had an interesting conversation. A guy came up to me and told me that his dad went to school with the actor who played Otis Campbell and they graduated together. I asked him where his father went to school and he said, "Right here in Eau Claire." I had to tell him that Otis Smith was not from Eau Claire. He became rather angry and insisted it was true because his father always told him that they were classmates here in Eau Claire. I didn't want to make a moulage out of the discussion and besmirch his father's name but I did say again that Hal Smith was not from Eau Claire. Another gentleman was listening and he told the guy that he thought his father must have been quite a story teller. Needless to say the fellow walked away in a huff. -- Ken Anderson The Mayberry Guru 2906 May Street Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54701 www.themayberryguru.com www.mayberryreflections.com ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
most-used Mayberry phrase?
"Marie in Cajun country," when mentioned angry Andy telling Aunt Bee to "Call the man! Just call the man!", says she still uses that phrase today. My wife and I do, too, whenever something needs repair around the house. Which leads me to this question: What's your most-used TAGS quote or phrase? Two New Podcast episodes for you to enjoy!
== Two Chairs No Waiting 250: Betty Lynn Interview Part 1 == http://wp.me/plF1Q-10S The celebration began last episode when we matched the episode total of The Andy Griffith Show and continues this week the first part of our interview with Betty Lynn. Mayberry fans know Betty as Thelma Lou but Betty has done so much in her career. Interviews usually focus on Betty’s experience on The Andy Griffith Show and while that is understandable, I wanted to focus a bit more on things about Betty that you may not have heard. She was very young when she started in show business. We get to hear about her time as a USO performer, early career in New York, moving to Hollywood with her mom to work for FOX, and so much more. You will enjoy this special episode and come back next week for the conclusion of Betty’s interview. http:/www.TwoChairsNoWaiting.com/ == Mayberry Bible Study Podcast: The Great Filling Station Robbery == http://wp.me/plF1Q-10M Lesson Introduction A young man, Jimmy Morgan, is accused of breaking into Wally’s garage and stealing supplies. Angry Andy
I recall an angry Andy in the b/w episode where he kept telling Aunt Bee to "call the man! Just call the man!" He certainly was exasperated with her that week. I still, use that phrase today. Marie in Cajun country ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
