As for me, hands down "The Summit Meeting" Barney's last words on the show.
"Those of us who chart the coarse of world's events, shall forever remain
nameless" Thanks for all the memories Barn. From "The  Scamp"

Opie's job and Helen's incompetence

2014-01-18 Thread (Ted) Easy-T "Straight Outta Delhi!"
I do really like that part at the end. The one thing that bugs me about
that episode is how Opie gave his job to Billy. Why didn't he just tell
Mr. Doakes that he appreciated being chosen but realized that Billy's need
for the job was greater than his, so he was stepping aside so Billy could
have it? The only reason I can think of is simply to set up the conflict
between Andy and Opie which then had to be resolved at the end. It
couldn't have been a matter of not wanting to hurt Billy's pride. Either
way, Billy knew that Opie was chosen over him. Since that was not a
reason, I can't think of another. And wouldn't his first inclination be to
tell the truth rather than make up a story, especially one that will damage
his reputation, unless there were a very compelling reason? Normally, Opie
is an honest boy. I'm probably overthinking this, but that's why this
episode bothers me. His decision to ask for the day off to play ball in
order to get fired purposely doesn't ring true.

I agree wholeheartedly Janet. I have never understood that and have
mentioned it before here on the board. Another one that bugs me is when
Helen puts the wrong grades on Opie's report card. She's allegedly a
competent teacher and can't ensure the right grades are marked down? that's
probably the most important and easiest jobs she has as a teacher.

Dating Myself

2014-01-18 Thread Ken Anderson
When I post things on my facebook page about how I experienced many of the
Mayberry things, sometimes people say I am dating myself.

I have been dating myself all my life. No one else will date me.
