MD2016
I think all in attendance at MD2016 had a great time.The weather was warm but no rain.I chatted with old friends and made some new ones.The silent auction was a success again because of the efforts of Jeff Koontz and all the generous folks who donated unique items.The celebrities/tribute artists were spot on in their appearances. Mike Haviland is a new tribute artist as Sgt. Carter and Michael Oliver was great as Gomer. The Colonel Tim's Talent Time Show had a few new twists that went over well with the crowd.David Browning & Christie McLendon did a duet dressed as Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton...fun,fun,fun. Mayberry Days
What a delight Mayberry Days was this year. I have missed a couple of years so things have moved and changed. Michael Hoover's Memories of Elvis was wonderful. He really puts on a special Mayberry show, but what I really enjoyed was Colonel Tim's Talent Time, so much better this year with lots of tidbits and scenes from the show. This is what I go to mayberry days to see. Loved Gomer and Sgt. Carter, Goober and Gomer with the Little Fat Mayor, Otis and his letter from Home, and of course Barney and Floyd. Don't want to forget the little Opie, he was a great added star to the show. Loved the scene with "Porter and Dolly", what a funny skit, loaded with talent. Ronnie Schell was a nice added addition. I went away with a smile on my face this year, and the time frame much better. Want to thank all the tribute artists and stars for an unforgettable weekend, hopefully won't be our last. Ken, I have a soft spot in my heart for military veterans as all my family served, principally my father in the Marine Corps for 30 years and my beloved in the Navy for 20 years. Your experience with that lovely man and his reaction to being pinned and made an honorary Mayberry sheriff had ME in tears too. Bless your heart for all you do for everyone! Hi OldManKelsey, I know what you mean... I heard Barney was doing the ol' "pow, pow, pow" on all of the gassers. "Interstate gas patrol" was the temporary seal painted on Barney's side car, and Otis was along for the ride, sniffing out potential offenders. Gomer said that he smelled gas...
