bike license
There was an episode of Leave It To Beaver that said people had to have a bike license. I think it was a way of registering your bicycle so that in case it was stolen and found they could find the owner. Bike Licenses
Bike license in Wisconsin is very common. They would give you a little sticker to put on the bike.
