Re: Mayberry Moments in the Movies
Hey Everyone, I just got back from vacation and was reading my many Mayberry emails! I wanted to share the following with you all. In the movie, "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" , have you noticed the many, many Mayberrians? My husband and I were stunned! As we watched the movie, we couldn't get over how much it resembled a long TAGS episode! We spotted the following: Barney, Otis, Clara Edwards, Clara Johnson or Clara Lindsey, Jed, Annabelle Silby, Maude Clarisse Tyler, Mrs. Kravitz and the 2nd Darrin (from Bewitched), Mrs. Loesch, Myrtle and last but not least, Mr. Frisby! But the references/similarities in the movie just blew us away... ..Barney lived in a boarding house (although not sure if he "set on the porch drinking cider and counting cars". ..There was a reference to "pounded steak" although I'm sure not nearly as good as "Morelli's". .. and certainly that one of the jury members could have been the beloved Juanita from the diner because they never showed her (or am I incorrect?) Take care and have a great week! Horatio Who? (Sandy) ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Re: Chopped Tags
Hey Everyone, This is for "me in mayberry"... You are so right about TV Land taking more bites out of our beloved TAGS! I originally was taping all the episodes when TBS, [EMAIL PROTECTED] and TV Land were running their marathon weekends (those were great weekends!). Then with the intro of DVD sets, I was in heaven! TAGS accompanied us on our trips to Virginia, Las Vegas and Georgia. Being a northern girl all of my life, having TAGS with me enables me to feel that I could have that life no matter where I am! Needless to say, my husband and I listen to TAGS every night before we go to sleep. Funny, but I hardly awake in a bad mood! Take care and have a great week! Horatio Who? Re: A Mayberry Moment
Hey Everyone, I was just checking my emails and had a very Mayberry moment! My mother had sent me a "friendship candle" and at the bottom were the words "God bless you and yours"! Re: Episode of Thelma Lou and Edgar Coleman
Hey Everyone, The title of the episode escapes me at the moment but I believe Thelma Lou and Edgar Coleman were gluing hymn books back together... but I don't recall if they showed Edgar (kind of like we never saw Juanita down at the diner but heard a lot about her!) Hey Everyone, I must say that maybe the execs. at TV Land heard the buzz a while back because a few weeks ago, I noticed that TV Land had puts TAGS on at 5:00 pm e.s.t. Re: a nice memory of a favorite tags episode
Hey Everyone, I was watching one of my favorite episodes the other night, Bargain Days, and it brought to mind when Aunt Bee was "babysitting" the freezer Back when the summers here were scorching hot, my uncles bought my grandmother an air conditioner. She was so nervous about having something like that, she refused to use it. When my uncles heard of this, they convinced her that it was ok. I saw my grandmother sitting to the side of the air conditioner for hours, afraid to leave its side, in fact, "babysitting" Take care and have a great week! Horatio Who? Re: To Air or Heir
Hey Everyone, Thank you so much for your responses! Wouldn't it figure that as I sent that question, my husband yells from the living room as he watched the episode again, "It's your son and heir"! Now when I see it, I can't believe I couldn't figure it out!! Take care and have a great week! Horatio Who? Re: Otis' cell
Hey Everyone, I would have to say that it would be the camera angle - maybe Cell 2 was a better angle? Let's not forget though, the woman speeder and the woman who was involved in the jewel heist (I think?). She kept referring to ole' Barn as the Sheriff and told Andy when she escaped "me prisoner, you Sheriff?" Honestly, too many great episodes to name, they all seem to mesh together after time but still a joy to watch from beginning to end. Take care and have a great week! Horatio Who? Re: TV Land
Hey Everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I went to the TV Land website to "voice my opinion" with the intention of being very subtle and non-offending to the powers that be and was disappointed to find out that you need to register to the forum. Unless I wasn't looking in the right place, I tried to register numerous times but the form kept asking for more identifying information. I filled out the form completely but it still wanted more. Maybe the form sensed I was going to give it "what for" and wouldn't let me in! If anyone has had luck in this area, any tips would be most appreciative! Take care and have a great week! Horatio Who? Re: Question regarding the episode in which Opie is in love with Miss Crump
Hey Everyone, I have a TAGS episode question for you. My husband and I have watched this episode over and over but cannot decipher what Barney is saying when he's sweeping the floor, looking out the window and sees Opie and Miss Crump walking down the street together. It sounds as though he's saying "Well, your son an air, walking hand in hand"... "Well things were sure different when we were in school, yeah, remember Miss Von Roeder, oh yeah, the beast of the fourth floor?..." Now I know that your son an air is definitely not it so any help would be very much appreciated!! Thank you for your input, take care and have a great week! Horatio Who? Re: Floyd Lawson's family
Hello Everyone, I remember one episode "Those Gossipin' Men" in which Floyd's son played his saxophone for Wilbur Finch. According to Aunt Bee and Emma, the shoe salesman from New York City (or at least that's what he says he is...). Also, don't forget "Floyd, the Gay Deceiver" in which Andy AND Opie are Floyd's sons to impress that rich widow on her way to Palm Beach! Have a wonderful week! Horatio who? Re: What is up with TV Land?
Hey Everyone, Thank you for addressing this issue! I was beginning to think I was the only one who felt like that... TAGS fans should have known that TV Land was comitted to more than bringing back the shows we all grew up on when they introduced "Chasing Farrah"... I saw the previews and thought "oh boy, there goes the neighborhood" I thought TV Land was supposed air the classic shows to upcoming generations to keep the tradition of "safe and funny tv" alive? I believe TV Land should re-evaluate their criteria for airing sitcoms and shows. One criteria should be the 20 year rule. If a show debuted 20 years or later, it would qualify to air on TV Land. Believe me, there are plenty of shows that meet that criteria that TV Land would have no problem filling time slots! Thank you for letting me vent a little... Have a great week and take care! Re: Favorite Tags Episodes by years (Raspberry Award)
Hey Everyone, Regarding the "Raspberry Award" mentioned by Brian of Maryland... I would have to say if it was mine to give out, I would suggest the color episode of when Howard moves (temporarily) to the Bahamas. Imagine how more exciting island life would have been with Barney! Who knows, maybe there would have been sequels to "Mr. Limpet". Howard is just a little too "magoo" for me Have a great week and take care! Horatio who? Re: Favorite TAGS episodes
Hey Everyone! I hail from OH where spring has come and gone and unfortunately winter has come back, temporarily, I hope... I've been a subscriber to WBMUTBB for a few years but finally got up the nerve to join in. I have been an avid fan of the show for 18 years. I have many favorite episodes but I tend to lean more to the black and white episodes. Some that come to mind are below: Opie's Charity (Obviously... I gave my friend Billy something, that's fine, what was it? a sock in head!) Citizen's Arrest (...Oh? my turn to talk??) Those Gossipin' Men (...According to you, there are two types of sexes, men and blabbermouths!) Malcolm Merriweather (...Aren't ya kind?) The Fun Girls (...and I said "Hey Daph, isn't that our friend BERNIE?) The Return of Malcolm Merriweather (with double dollops) also the episode (sorry, can't recall the title) where Barney is in the office conducting a "trouble check" with Juanita at the diner and also the freezer episode in which 3 little words mean a whole lot more CALL THE MAN!!.
