Re: Mustache Cup
Ah, the mustache cup. A wonderful invention designed to protect the well-pampered mustache from a steaming cup of coffee or tea. Also kept them from getting stained. I wonder if Teddy Roosevelt had one when he was dragging that cannon over San Juan Hill? -Chris in Wilmington, NC If honesty is such a good policy, how come I'm out a cap pistol? ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Fish for Breakfast
Fish grits for breakfast. A southern tradition! At least in my part of the south. My mama would be more than satisfied to eat leftover fish from the night before for breakfast. Andy's Passing
I know I sent in a post the other evening but I felt compelled to send this one. I was thinking about Andy singing There is a Time from the Guest in the House episode. I've always been a little more partial to The Darlings version in The Darling Baby but I wanted to hear Andy's version again. After watching it this afternoon I understood why I wanted to hear it. It is such a deep, contemplating version. Wow! You have to wonder if Frances Bavier and Jan Shutan (who played Gloria) were acting or actually caught up in the moment. Re: These boots are made for walkin'
Paul I checked my album and it's hard to tell. I scanned the cover at a high resolution but the quality of the picture isn't that great so it makes it hard to see any markings. (My copy is in pretty good shape) The best I can tell is that the sole is leather and the heel is rubber. The heel has what looks to be a square or a shield on it with a diagonal line going through it. Maybe some good detective work can be done to figure something out from that. I remember my Dad wearing these exact same style boots for work during the 60's. I especially remember his pants leg getting caught on the top of the boots just like Andy's does sometimes. They're definitely a short Wellington-style boot. Engineer boots have an adjustable strap that goes across the ankle. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Re: Memories
Larry, You made me smile when you mentioned going to get a switch for Momma to use. More than once I brought in one too small. After she used it, she would set it up on a shelf so I could see it to remind me the consequences of my actions. One time I guess I was a little upset over getting switched (as she called it) and I climbed up, got down the switch, and broke it in two. I'll let you figure out the consequence's of that!
