Dinner At Eight
We just had our November meeting of the Wally's Front Porch chapter and had some delicious spaghetti. I think it had a secret sauce. After we all filled up we watched of course, the episode Dinner At Eight. It was brought to our attention by one of our club members that during each of the three dinners that Andy ate they had nothing on the table to drink. That got me wondering if that had been discussed here before. Was this just a blooper or what? I imagine Andy would have liked something to wash down all that food. Special Saturday
This past Saturday 3 of our members of Wally's Front Porch chapter in Wilson NC travelled to Laurinburg NC to attend a cookout with Dewey Lamb and the Shakedown! Shakedown! Chapter. What a great time was had by all. Everyone was so friendly and made us feel right at home in their club. It is nice to know that the spirit of Mayberry is alive and well in so many others and we are all part of something special because of this great tv show. Favorite Labor Day Episode
Having Just Celebrated Labor Day I always enjoy watching the episode "Andy And Helen Have Their Day". I guess i think of this because Goober makes reference to the movie Picnic which happens to be one of my favorite movies and the movie takes place over the Labor Day weekend. Andy straightens Goober out by telling him that Cary Grant won't in Picnic but it was William Holden. This leads to Goober's famous take off on Cary Grant with his 3 judy's. what a classic! So every Labor Day i always watch this episode and watch the movie Picnic. What a great combo. Tears on my pillow
This year was the first mother's day without my mom. Like myself she was also a big fan of the show. One of her very favorite episodes was "Class Reunion". I can remember us singing Mayberry Union High at the end of the show. I love this episode and feel like the epilogue is one of the most touching scenes from the entire series. This is just one special memory of so many that I have from this wonderful show. I know how Barn felt. The tears on my pillow did bespeak the pain in my heart. Keep a good thought always. May Day
Certainly is beautiful here in eastern N.C. today. The birds are singing, the trees are nice and full and the weather would be perfect for a picnic at myer's lake. Of course when I think or hear about May Day the first thing that usually pops into my mayberry brain is Barney hollering to Sarah on the phone. Come to think of it I kinda wish it was payday too.
