The Holidays and a Platex glove

2008-12-26 Thread Lisa Ahlers
I want to wish each and everyone of you here at the message board a most
blessed Holiday Season! You all play such an important part in bringing
Mayberry to me. I used to feel so alone out there always wishing there was
really a Mayberry and so much wanting to step back in time and live there. This
past year, I found the message board and found all of you. All of you are so
awesome! So kind and always helpful. Just like Mayberry. Allen, thank you to
you and your family for the wonderful Christmas card. I looked back over the
others you sent out over the years and they are all awesome. Some even brought
tears to my eyes.
As far as the latex glove story goes. All the talk about Snails Worms lately
reminded me of a funny memory. Me and my children had conquered the fear of
putting a worm on a hook, but not the fear of touching the fish to take it off
the hook if we did catch one. So, one beautiful summer day we wanted to go
fishing, but we had this dilema...my husband was at work, so we had no one to
to handle the caught fish for us. Finally, my son Josh, now 20, then 12 or 13,
says I can take the fish off the hook if you can figure out a way for me not
to have to touch it. I turned on my thinking cap and thought of those yellow,
platex gloves I use to do dishes. I was out of them, so my two boys went to the
store and bought a pack of two, so off we went to the lake. There were several
others there fishing as well, so we found our spot and started to bait hooks
and get them in the water. We usually didn't have much luck catching anything,
but of course today was quite the opposite. It's like the fish were under the
water watching us fools and wanted to have some fun with us. It's like they
were jumping on our hooks. Every time one of us caught a fish, we'd yell for
Josh to Get the Gloves! He couldn't get them on fast enough, soon there was
another fish, and then another, and then yet another. It never failed, he'd
just take them off and we were yelling for the gloves again. We all got
laughing so hard that our stomachs just hurt. The other people around the lake
had quite a show that day, as we could hear others laughing at us. It was a
wonderful day for all of us that day and we still share many laughs over it yet
today. All it takes is someone saying Josh, get the gloves!
Ben, this is the first time I seen the Night Before Christmas in Mayberry Poem.
It was very well done, thank you for that.
Well, I had better let someone else get a word in, I just wanted to share.

Still Learnin'

2008-12-12 Thread Lisa Ahlers
Good Mayberry mornin' everyone. As a member still learnin' I appreciate so much
what all of you bring to our Mayberry Group. Y'all are welcome to come sit on
my porch anytime and share a lemonaide.
Allen, I hope you had a wonderful Birthday! Ken, I loved your Christmas
List..very fitting ideas. Harry, your additions to that list are as well
wonderful.
I do have a few questions for anyone who may know the answers.
I am still in the process of collecting all of the shows seasons and have
almost all of them. I notice that there are several DVD's out there that also
have episodes on them as well. Sometimes they are called Volumes or the Best
Of. Are these additional episodes or if I have the complete 8 seasons, will I
already have them? I don't want to miss any. Also, are there any extra shows or
movies that were done after the original series was over? And what about
Mayberry RFD? I can't find those at all.
I was also wondering if the name of Andy's wife has ever been mentioned and if
so, what is it?
Come and sit on my porch, there is always room.

Out of the Loop

2008-12-08 Thread Lisa Ahlers
Hello and I hope everyone is having a Mayberry kinda' day! I have been a bit
out of the loop lately with what's been going on in Mayberry, but am back full
time now to check in on everyone. I just got done listening to my first Two
Chairs no Waiting and enjoyed it very much. I would like to put a great big
THANK YOU out there to everyone who is involved with that and to all that have
been a part of this message board for so many years. It is wonderful to come to
a place where everyone shares so many of the feelings of Mayberry.
I am a bit curious about what's going on with all the cow and mosaic talk.
:-)Can I be filled in on that? Also, does anyone know if the name of Andy's
wife has ever been mentioned on the show and if so, what is it?
Happy Holidays to all,
Lisa ~ Aunt Bea in Iowa

Re: Digest Problems

2008-05-07 Thread Lisa Ahlers
I too was not receiving the digest and got the bounce message and had no idea
what it meant. I did send Allen and e-mail and he was kind enough to respond to
it. He explained that it was a problem that many of us were having and reminded
me that I could keep up by reading the archives and that the problem was being
worked on. I have been receiving the digest again and am so thrilled. I really
missed all of you co-fans and feel at home again on Andy's front porch. I would
really like to thank Allen for all his help in getting this problem fixed. It
is very much appreciated and enjoyed by so many.
Have a Mayberry kinda' Day All !!

2008-04-05 Thread Lisa Ahlers
Hello Everyone, I too have been fortunate enough to get a copy of the Make
Room for Daddy's DVD that has the Pilot of TAGS on it. I personally love it and
thought it looked real good. I am wondering something though. I believe it was
around last week when there were links on here to some U-tube clips of the show
and the one I loved was one of Andy having a talk with the gentleman who rented
the lady (can't think of her name at the moment, but now she is our dear Aunt
Bee) the suit that her husband got burried in, so he continued to charge her
daily for the suit rental and that's why she was unable to pay her taxes for
two years. I was disappointed that that clip was not in the pilot. So where is
it? Does anyone know?
Nice visiting on the porch a bit,
