Ken Anderson
Thank you, Ken, for your dedication to TAGS and Mayberry-related activities. We need more people like you to promote morals and values in todays society. And I can't think of a better example than The Andy Griffith Show. We appreciate you ! TV Today
Well said, Aunt Bee of Orlando ! I do not watch TV anymore except for the older shows and sitcoms. The Andy Griffith Show is what I watch the most. The entertainment industry has absolutely no morals or values whatsoever. I appreciate TAGS for what it represents : Godly values, neighborly love and concern for their fellow man and the innocence that small-town living bred in the hearts of Mayberry citizens. I usually drive up to Mt. Airy 3 or 4 times a year to enjoy the simple pleasures of life and to refresh my soul. Wishing everyone a wonderful week. Andy
I know other people have already posted about Andy's passing and I'm a little late getting my thoughts on here. Like our Mayberry Guru, Ken Anderson, I grew up without a father and basically without a family as well. Watching The Andy Griffith Show gave me a sense of family, fellowship and love. As I've grown older, I've seen morality and Godly values getting rarer by the day. For this reason I appreciate The Andy Griffith Show even more now. I also just want to say that even though I don't post here regularly, I read the posts and I am grateful for all of the wonderful people on this site. It's so nice to be connected to other Mayberry fans. When I heard the news of Andy passing away, I shed some tears for a man I had never met. He made Mayberry a special place; and though Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee, Floyd and others have gone on, Mayberry will always live on in our hearts. Just wanted to air my ( as Barney would call it ) philosophical meanderings . Sheryl in NC ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Mayberry Tribute in Rochester MN
Rev. Schilbe, I wish I could join you and any other Andy Griffith Show fans for your Mayberry Tribute. I can't think of anything more wonderful than sitting in church and watching episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. That would be the closest thing to Heaven down here. Wishing all who attend the Tribute an evening of warm Mayberry fellowship ! Sheryl in NC ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Merry Christmas
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and I always enjoy reading the posts though I don't post as often as I'd like to. I have always enjoyed the hometown Mayberry atmosphere here on the Digest. I pray that we will all have a blessed New Year and I look forward to another year of Mayberry fellowship. Mayberry Keepsake
I would like to have a hymnal from All Souls Church. I would also like to have the cookie jar from Aunt Bee's kitchen. My grandmother had the same cookie jar when I was growing up and when I saw it on TAGS, it brought back wonderful memories. Mayberry Night at Oakboro Cruise-In
I went to Oakboro, NC to attend Mayberry Night at the Oakboro Cruise-In this past Saturday night. I not only got to meet the Mayberry tribute artists, but I also had the privilege of meeting Maggie Peterson and Rodney Dillard. Maggie is a delightful and gracious lady. She greeted everyone with a warm smile that made you feel like you had known her all your life. Rodney's new CD is great, and he was kind enough to autograph one for me. I also met Allan Newsome in person, and his portrayal of Floyd is perfection ! And David Browning as Barney was fantastic ! We had a wonderful time and I'm already looking forward to the cruise-in next year. Sheryl in NC ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Re: Warm, fuzzy moments
My fondest warm, fuzzy moment is the look on Andy's face as he listens to Aunt Bee describing her joy over the bed jacket Andy bought her for her birthday. I can just see the love for Aunt Bee in is face; he unselfishly parted with his fishing pole so he could give his aunt a special gift. Dewey's right; it's moments like these that make The Andy Griffith Show and Mayberry the wonderful place it is. Ken's Mayberry moment
Ken, it's always so good to hear about your Mayberry moments. I couldn't help but smile when I read about your Mayberry moment at the medical clinic. It's really nice that you were recognized from an earlier presentation. How wonderful that you keep the spirit of Mayberry alive with your appearances. If you ever get the chance to come to North Carolina, please post the information. Those of us who live here in NC would love to see your squad car and hear some good old-fashioned TAGS anecdotes. Re: Mayberry Time Capsule
I think an interesting item to put in the time capsule would be a cost of living price list. Just think how amazed we would be to see how much everything had increased years later. I remember in the 70's when I was in high school, gas was only 58 cents per gallon ( if memory serves me correctly ). Doctor bills were less expensive in Mayberry times. Doc Andrews only charged 10.00 for an office visit. Sheryl McBride in NC ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Re: Warren Parker
I just watched the Columbo episode of Publish or Perish and it is indeed Warren Parker. You can recognize the voice because it still pretty much sounds the same as the Andy Griffith episodes. I checked IMDb and he wasn't listed in the credits. I also recognized another actor from TAGS. James Milhollin not only appeared in the episode Aunt Bee Takes A Job (played the character of Arnold Finch), but also appeared in The Ghost and Mr. Chicken as Milo Maxwell, bank president. James Milhollin plays the van driver who Riley Greenleaf has a fender-bender with in the Publish or Perish episode. Dark Shadows
Hi, Larry, at the risk of straying from TAGS-themed posts, I am a HUGE Dark Shadows fan. I have started purchasing DVD sets to add to my collection. Of course, The Andy Griffith Show is my number one favorite. As for favorite TAGS scenes, I love the episode Opie's Newspaper. I always enjoy laughing at Barney when he tries to retrieve the gossipy newspaper from Harold Grigsby's house, and Harold thinks Barney is there to sneak a look at his wife. Harold proceeds to chase Barney away in a threatening manner. Hi-larious ! Sheryl in NC ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Re: Are My Ears Mis-Hearing Again?
Regarding Warren's line about sugar for Barney's coffee- the line is as follows: I know exactly, uh, 3 lumps of sugar and a little cream. Uncle Floyd told me. Wishing everyone a Mayberry Day Sheryl in NC ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Ken, thanks for sharing your Youtube video of the Hawthorne villages. I enjoyed it very much. I was impressed with the detail you displayed with the buildings. Great job. Betty Lynn
Janet, I saw the photo of Thelma Lou kissing Barney after i had chosen the photo of her in a dress that was obviously a publicity shot. I will definitely get the Thelma Lou/Barney photo in September. I wish I could have met Frances Bavier, though I heard she was rather reclusive in her retirement years. Mt. Airy
I just returned home after a visit to Mt. Airy, NC this afternoon. I had not seen the Andy Griffith museum and was looking forward to discovering what was on display there. I saw Barney's salt and pepper suit, Andy's suit from Matlock and other interesting displays. But the main reason for going was meeting Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou) and getting her autographed photo. What a sweet and gracious lady she is. She took the time to chat and was very humorous. She told us she is 84 years old, but she doesn't look it. Mt. Airy is a beautiful town, and I am really looking forward to attending the Mayberry Days Festival in September. Re: Good News and Sad News
Ken, I checked out your chicken trick video on YouTube and it was really good. I bet Mt. Pilot will sign you up immediately. It was really good. So sorry to hear about the young boy's suicide. So sad. That's the reason I pulled my children out of public school and home-schooled them, because I was afraid they would end up fitting in with the wrong crowd. My thoughts and prayers go out to the young boy's family. Sheryl in NC ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Quotes
Hello to everyone here at WBMUTBB. Just wanted to wish all of you a good weekend and post some of my favorite quotes: 1. Andy: Now, you better hush, I'll arrest you for being a disorderly corpse ! 2. Barney: Oh, it's gonna be a red-letter day in Mayberry if the whole Ladies Aid church committee gets crocked ! 3. Barney: You mean you actually want her to make another batch of them kerosene cucumbers ?! 4. Gomer: Shoot, my mama and daddy just shook hands on their deal. 5. Barney: Those are your true schizophreniacs ! And last but not least (but not exactly TAGS): ATTA BOY, LUTHER ! Have a Mayberry weekend ! Jim Nabors
I just received my tickets for the Mayberry Days Festival for this year. I am really looking forward to attending this year. Does anyone know if Jim Nabors has ever attended any Mayberry Days venues ? I read a post here a few days ago concerning Ron Howard coming to Mt. Airy, and I couldn't recall whether Mr. Nabors had ever made an appearance there. Sheryl in NC ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
TAGS mystery character
I just recently learned of an interesting mystery on the Andy Griffith show. I read about someone on Facebook offering a reward to anyone who could identify the actor that portrayed Mr. Shwump in a couple of episodes. The man stated on Facebook that no one could seem to find out his real name, as he wasn't listed in the credits. I remember that he appeared in an episode on Gomer Pyle, USMC titled Gomer, the Welsh Rarebit Fiend. Thinking I had possibly solved the mystery, I checked the end credits, and his name wasn't listed. If anyone comes up with the name and identity of the actor who played Mr. Shwump, please let me know.
