My wife and I have discussed this type of thing at length. If one of us were
to become famous, where would we draw the line at getting angry? No one wants
photographers at their front door all the time, but does a fan asking for an
autograph politely really intrude if you are in a public place? Surely if you
go in public you expect to be looked at if you are famous. If you can't drive
your car out of the parking lot that is different. We met Brad Paisley at a
hotel, we were in the pool, he was in the weight room with some people, we
knocked on the glass and someone opened it and we asked for an autograph. He
graciously said 'no problem' after his workout. We respected his wishes and he
came through. We had no intention of demanding anything, acted polite and he
did the same. We met George Lindsay and even got to sit at his table and eat
supper with him just by chance. I tried my best not to stare or imitate him
(very hard) and he turned out to be a great guy. He signed
a copy of his book and answered every question I had, once I got past being
starstruck. He broke the ice by asking for the salt. I think that is how most
celebrities would like you to react, after all they must be glad to have fans.
Put yourself in their place, wouldn't you take the time if you had the time to
do so? The other side could be true also. If you act rude, obnoxious or
pushy, you may not get good results. I think alot of the celebrities who
complain about their pictures being taken are in on the whole thing. If you
get a chance, stop by Charlie Daniels store in Nashville he is as nice a guy as
you could meet, but he did try to eat my chicken wings to go from Hardrock.
Maybe I have just been lucky with celebrities so far.

Matt
