John Masters
Ken, Check out "Have Gun - Will Travel" on the Encore Western Channel. It must have been the the "warm up" for TAGS alumni. I see someone from TAGS a couple of times a week. John Masters is on quite often as (you guessed it) the clerk at the Carlton Hotel. I have seen Otis a couple of times, as a drunk, a barber and a doctor. It was strange to see him riding a horse instead of his usual "steed"... larry ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Subject: Barney's magazine
I always figured that the magazine was a "True Detective" type magazine... Barney would be keeping up on current practices, and even though the magazine had racy pictures, I'm sure Barn only read the articles... larry ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Have Gun Will Travel
HGWT is one of my other favorites (TAGS being #1) If you have access to the EWST (Encore Western Channel) it is on daily withou any commercials! I watch whenever I can, and have seen a large crowd of Mayberry Alumni... John Masters is fairly regular, along with Otis, Ben Weaver, Brisco, That College Kid and the Lady Speeder... I see a recognizable face in nearly every episode... larry ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Mayberry Sightings
I've been watching Have Gun Will Travel on the Western Channel... A lot of fun watching the old westerns... Noticed a few "Pre-Mayberry" Alumni: Doris Dowling (#71 - Floyd the Gay Deceiver) played a scheming widow (imagine that!) Leo Gordon (#80 - High Noon in Mayberry) played a good guy/bad guy Avenging Friend Jack Albertson (#234 - Aunt Bee's Cousin) played a shop owner and last but not least an actor named Carl Benson played a cowboy... Didn't he go on to form some kind of band? larry ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Luke Comstock and the Shotgun
> First of all Luke Comstock was a convicted felon and convicted felons are not > allowed to own > guns of any sort. Secondly why would the bus company allow him to carry a > shotgun onto > the bus even if it was in a case. Now if you read between the lines here, it > means just one > thing. R-E-V-E-N-G. ** You're forgetting one thing... TAGS was filmed in the early '60s, and the laws you are refering to are primarily part of the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA68)... Back then, there were a LOT fewer restrictions, and things were a lot simpler! I've also read that even tho the series was filmed in the 60's it was written as if it was the '20s (when there were even fewer restrictions).
