Amzie Strickland
>>>Paul Mulik asked a question a few weeks ago on one of the FaceBook sites >>>about Amzie Strickland. The question was about what she bought after the >>>first time of being on TAGS. I never did see the answer. So Paul could you please tell WBMUTBB the answer. Margaret >>> I’ll back up a bit since a lot of folks here probably didn’t see it. In 1995 about 20 TAGS actors gathered for the 35th anniversary celebration in Winston-Salem. Each star got a few minutes onstage alone to do more or less whatever they wanted. Some told jokes, some sang, and some recreated routines that they had done earlier in the careers. When Amzie Strickland’s turn came, she said she didn’t know how to do any of those things, so she delighted the crowd by reading aloud from the diary she had kept in 1960. I don’t remember the exact date (must have been approximately August or September of 1960), but her entry for one day was “Got a part on The Andy Griffith Show. Bought new hose.” Paul Mulik ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/

Very good so far! I just saw Amzie Strickland not long ago in several "Dick Van Dyke Show" episodes, and had forgotten about her appearance on "Leave It to Beaver." I remember her rather heartbreaking performance in "The Martians are Due on Maple Street" award from "The Twilight Zone." Ms. Strickland has a large collection of TV credits to her name, from "I Love Lucy" and "The Millionaire" to "7th Heaven" and "ER." She will be missed very much. Amzie Strickland
I'm sorry to hear that she had alzheimers and that she passed away. Amzie Strickland was one of those actresses who could play a wide range of ages. I liked seeing her in The Dick Van Dyke show in the role of care taker of Rob's elderly uncle (portrayed by Dick Van Dyke). She was able to convey her character as a person who appeared sweet and caring, but deep down wasn't really. When she inherited some money from that "old, dear man" and her husband exclaims "We're rich" and she answers "I'm rich", you just know that from now own she's calling the shots. I tried looking her up on the "What a character" site and was very surprised that I didn't she her, as she was in many of the TAGS era shows. Kim - Wylie, TX __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Re: passing of Amzie Strickland
So sorry to read of the passing of Amzie Strickland. I would imagine her family is somewhat relieved of her passing in that she suffered the agony of Alzheimer's. I know how horrid this disease is, for my precious Dad passed away in February after a 7 year long battle. I fondly remember Ms. Strickland in many roles...in TAGS as Miss Rosemary, then a bit later on as the wife of the couple wanting to buy Andy's house in "Barney the Realtor". Were there more roles she portrayed in TAGS? Wasn't she also seen in roles on "Leave it to Beaver", and perhaps "The Dick Van Dyke Show", and "The Twilight Zone", just to name a few? As a trained noticer-in-training, I'm not too sure...I'm sure all of you can help! A very special lady now shines brightly in heaven above My deepest sympathy and prayers to the family of Ms. Strickland. We shall meet, but we shall miss her... jaywalkin' joan in NC Check out AOL.com today. Breaking news, video search, pictures, email and IM. All on demand. News from HQ: Amzie Strickland Passes
News from TAGSRWC about our Mayberry family below. I'm very sad to report that Amzie Strickland (Mayberry's Miss Rosemary and four other characters) passed away from complications of Alzheimer's on July 5 in Spokane, Wash. She was 87. She was an incredibly talented and gracious person whose amazing career included 650 TV guest-starring roles, 24 films, 3,000 radio shows, and countless commercials. The family has not designated a charity for memorials, but they have said that Amzie always liked the idea of supporting local programs for the arts. TAGSRWC will be making a donation in her memory to the Surry Arts Council and to Spokane's CenterStage, a non-profit theater that Amzie founded and for which her son, Tim, serves as artistic director. We'll have a more complete recap of Amzie's wonferful life and career in The eBullet later this month. For now, we just wanted to let her Mayberry friends and fans know the news. --jim ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
