Andy's gun

2010-07-14 Thread David Burch
Andy fired a pistol only three times:

A) Signalling the beginning of "paces" in the feud,
2) Finding out that Barney's gun really was loaded after Gentleman Dan handed
it to Andy and
C) Shooting the tire in the counterfeiters' station wagon.

This is from the FAQ on Mayberry.com.

Andy's gun

2011-09-16 Thread Janet Anderson
>>>Something that always seemed so out of character with the Taylor household
>>>and Mayberry in general is that in the episode "High Noon in Mayberry" we
>>>learn that Andy keeps a revolver on top of Aunt Bee's dining room hutch.<<<

Ken, it's been awhile since I watched that episode, so I don't recall if there
was any indication as to whether Andy routinely kept the revolver on the hutch
or if he put it there for that situation. But I don't really find him having a
gun at home out of character for Andy. After all, he was the sheriff. Yes, he
didn't normally carry a gun because, as you said, he wanted the townsfolk to
respect him for himself, not for the gun. But Andy was also a practical man
and a realist. He knew there were times when a gun was necessary, and he used
one when it was called for. He didn't want to assume that Luke Comstock was
coming back to seek revenge, but he also was wise enough to be prepared for the
worst. That's my take on it, anyway.

Andy's Gun

2011-09-17 Thread Larry Hamrick
Hey, Mayberry friends. This is my theory on the gun on top of the hutch.Even
though the citizens of Mayberry are a law abiding bunch, Andy had to be
prepared if an 'interloper' ventured into town. The gun in his home and hidden
would be there if needed. After all, he was a lawman and lawmen have to be
ready to protect citizens and themselves. This is just my measly 3 cents worth.

O'boy! Mayberry Days next week. It's like having a whole 'nother Christmas.

Andy's gun, Annt Bee's game recipes.

2011-07-23 Thread (Ted) Easy-T "Straight Outta Delhi!"
Why would Luke be carrying a loaded gun on a bus? I believe it was not
loaded and Andy knew that. He threw it on a cushioned couch-very soft.
His lights had just gone out and his family was upstairs. I think he
was just in a hurry.
I am sure aunt Bee had a recipe for scrumptious Hassenpfeffer.
