Fred goss and weary Willy
Fred goss was the dry cleaner (always pays to look neat) and weary Willy was the hobo. He had a fracture of the patulla oblongata from saving a baby from a train. Fred Goss on Roy Rogers
Caught Fred Goss (Fred Sherman) on Roy Rogers this morning, episode Last of the Larebee Kid. Apparently he failed to take his own advice"It pays to look your best." He was a clerk at the stagecoach office. A disheveled, pouty, nearsighted curmudgeon type of a fella, a big whiner, sporting a dusty, scruffy, five day old beard. Harriet, the chicken thief, hiding out in Kelsey's Woods, USA Johnny Paul Jason says chewing tar is good for the teeth..That's an old wives taleJohnny Paul ain't married. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/

I thought the character's name was Goss not Goes. Maybe that's why that person got the response they got.If at first you don't succeed, try and hide your astonishment. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

I have always gotten a kick out of Fred Goss when he has a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, ashes ready to fall off, and says It always pays to look your best. How ironic that Fred looks so sloppy. I can't imagine picking up dry cleaned clothing and having it smell of cigarette smoke. Bee in New Concord, OH Brenda J. I ran into our old friend Fred Goss this morning. I was watching an old Leave it to Beaver episode and Fred was the taxi driver who picked up Ward to take him to the airport. And guess what? His uniform was spotless. That must have been before he took up smoking! Thelma Lou (Janet) ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Thanks to Tom Kessel for mentioning Fred Sherman (Fred Goss, the dry cleaner). This prompted me to look at his entry on IMDB. While I consider myself fairly knowledgeable on the subject of the I Love Lucy show, I had never noticed (despite dozens of viewings) that the drunk in The Diner episode was our very own Fred Goss. As I scrolled down the list of his acting appearances I was impressed by the volume of his work! Ken in AZ ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
