The Indianapolis TV news just ran a story of the Danville, Indiana police
department using the Mayberry Cafe's squad car to pull people over this week.
But in the holiday/Mayberry spirit, it's to reward folks for good driving.

2013-08-02 Thread Sonya Palmer
I have been a member of the list for many years and though I usually don't
post, I enjoy reading everyone's messages.  I look forward to my daily dose of
Mayberry.  In June while on vacation my husband and I made a point of stopping
by the Mayberry Cafe while passing through Danville, IN.  I am glad that we
did.  It more than lived up to the positive reviews posted on the list in both
food and ambiance.  We enjoyed a wonderful lunch and the service was
outstanding.  If you have not been before, I would highly recommend it.  One of
the things I appreciate about this list is the sharing of Mayberry related
places and activities as it gives me enjoyable things to incorporate into my
travels.

*** Two Chairs No Waiting 202: Mayberry Cafe ***

Many Mayberry fans have known about the Mayberry Cafe in Danville, IN
for years but I'm betting there are those of you who may not know that
this central Indiana bit of Mayberry exist.

Thanks to Two Chairs No Waiting roving reporter, Tom Rusk, we have an
interview with Brad and Christine Born. The Born's are the owners of
the Mayberry Cafe which opened back in 1989! Complete with a Mayberry
patrol car out front, the cafe is a sight to behold. The menu
consists of items like "Aunt Bee's Fried Chicken," "Barney's BBQ
Ribs," and "Howard Sprague's Ham Steak." Oh...and don't forget
"Floyd's Fish Sandwich" or "Ernest T's Bacon-Swiss Burger"...they're
god.

Thanks to Tom for doing this interview for the podcast and if you're
in Danville, be sure to drop by 78 W Main Street and tell the Born's
that "Floyd" said "Hey."

Hey Joe Gritton,
You will always be a "figment" to me.  You are my literary "hero".
Unfortunately I was unable to make it to the Mayberry Cafe as well when David
Browning and his lovely wife Patty were there.  I love them both so much!
I had to work both Friday and Saturday nights so I was snoring worse than
those "Darling Boys"  when the festivities were going on.
"Briscoe" and the "Mayor" were both there but incognito (or under cover).
Briscoe said everyone had a good time!!
Hope we can get the gang together again before too long.
Until then, "lots of luck to you and your's"  Briskette aka Pat Mundy

No-show at Mayberry Cafe

2010-04-26 Thread GRITTON, JOE A (ATTOPS)
Thanks Mike "the Scamp" for thinking of me in your wonderful write-up below.

I thought about saying I wanted folks like Briscoe's dear wife to go back to
think I was just a 'figment' aka virtual person again, but since y'all saw me
last time there, that wouldn't work.

Actually, I had a bad case of "call the man" going, or I would have dearly
loved to been there to see my good Friend David Browning and all the rest of
you whom I met at the last Mayberry Café bash.

It is to my great loss, but sorry I missed all of you. My internet service had
been out for two days and "the man" was supposed to be there between 8 and 12
(which meant I could just make it by 1 o'clockish) but the Goober did not show
up until 4:30. So I missed all of the Mayberry fun.

I'm sure that David was in his usual entertaining Mayberry Deputy form. I hope
Patti was there too.

Mayberry Cafe

2010-03-15 Thread ROBERT PHILLIPS

The Mayberry Cafe in Danvile, Ind is relatively famous; i've been there myself
a few times. It is a really nice restaurant and no doubt i'll stop in there
everytime when I go to Indiana but I don't recall anyone ever mentioning any
other Mayberry restaurants. Does anyone know that there is one in Tulsa,
Oklahoma? Now, i'm from

Indiana, been in Arizona for twenty-nine years, and I didn't know about the one
In Danville untill someone Tombstone, Az told me about it. Than long about nine
years ago on one of my cross country travels and at the time when I arrived at
Tulsa, I was mighty hungry so I pulled off the road and into the parking lot of
a restaurant. But I didn't eat at that resturant because just when I parked I
happened to look up and right across the street was a big sign on a building
that said Mayberry Cafe. So I naturally I drove across the street and ate at
the Mayberry Cafe. The one in Tulsa though had more of a truck stop atmasphere.

I want to go th Mayberry Days

Re-Mayberry Cafe

Hi,
Don't know what happened, but my post in regard to the Mayberry Cafe decided
to go before I was finished typing it?
I was about to add that I was thinking about the mention of why Aunt Bee
might have said she wasn't dressed for visiting, when she was actually
dressed very nicely. I think she felt quite self conscious when visiting in
"the upper-class" folk's home. She most likely wanted to appear as if she
had much finer clothes than those she was wearing that day. "Oh what a
tangled web we weave" ha, ha!

Hi all,
The Mayberry Cafe in Danville In. being mentioned, I had to boast at having
had lunch there just yesterday. Anything Mayberryright? We go there
every now-and-then, sometimes just my "darling person" and I and sometimes
with friends. It's a fun little bit of nostalgia, having a meal amidst much
Mayberry memorabillia! I have a double reason for going there in that I
spent most of my childhood there in that little town. (much like Mayberry) I
was pleased to see that someone has written a book on the town of Danville.

I'm taking my mom to Nashville Friday and Saturday to enjoy a special meal
at Stockyard Steakhouse, look through the Country Music Hall of Fame, attend

Indianapolis area for our sixth or so visit to the Mayberry Café before
heading back home to Missouri. We always try to incorporate Mayberry into

Saturday lunch at the Mayberry Cafe

2008-12-08 Thread fgordon
Hi all,
I just wanted to give comment on the Danville, Mayberry Cafe lunch on Saturday.
My darling person, and I enjoyed having vittles with tribute artists, Tim
Pettigrew (Goober), Bob& Pat Mundy (Briscoe Darling), & a newer artist Eric
Lowry ( the fat little Mayor Pike) Jeff & Stephanie Gossett were also with us.
As some of you might already know, Jeff owns a 1963 Ford Galaxie Mayberry squad
car, in which he likes to "Glenn Ford It All Over Town" LOL
The cafe was doing a goodly amount of business that day and the fellows signed
many autographs.
We had a great time visiting together and just talking "Mayberry"
The tribute artist do such a good job of portraying the original stars. Anytime
Mayberry friends get together, you can count on a time of good wholesome fun!
Can't wait till our next opportunity to get together!
