The other night, I was watching "The Twilight Zone" episode titled "Black Leather Jackets" about an impending alien invasion. I thought the neighbor looked familiar; it took a little while before I realized it was none other than Denver Pyle (Briscoe Darling). Without any kind of an accent, and dressed in nice clothes, it took me awhile to be sure it was really him. Then, while watching a 1958 episode of "Gunsmoke", I thought the forlorn wife of a rancher looked familiar, but with her accent and lack of make-up I wasn't sure - then I looked it up and sure enough, it was Hope Summers (Clara Edwards). Both of them were far-removed from their Mayberry roles, showing how versatile and talented they were. Well, there has a been a bonanza of alumni sightings lately. Today I was watching an old Nancy Reagan movie I had on the DVR; lo and behold in the opening scene was our woman speeder driving a jeep! Later on there was a very old sweet lady that I felt had been in Mayberry but couldn't quite place her. The film was one of those post-WWII tales of the mental strife of our vets; so sad indeed. Today I went to a local restaurant for a bite to eat. On their music system they were playing music by Madeline Peru(sp?). All of a sudden I noticed she was singing the song that Rafe Hollister sang in the talent show, Lonesome Road. On Gunsmoke today the man in a hurry (Robert Emhardt) appeared as a train conductor. Then on The Rifleman Mrs. Lesch (Ellen Corby) appeared as a mountain woman whose son was accidentally killed. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Well, I didn't know SciFi was running the Twilight Zone for 4 whole days but it did give me a chance to catch more alumni. Saw Amzie Strickland in a role a little more animated than our Miss Rosemary. And Inspector Case in a lead role in another episode about bad parents. And Green Acres. Hal Smith was in several episodes as different characters but yesterday Mr. Haney was trying to sell him a cow. Same episode, Mr. Haney did sell a stuffed cow to Allan Melvin. (You'd have to see it).
