Oscar Trivia

2011-07-08 Thread Harry Brewbaker
Okay David, I didn't go to IMDB but I did look through the season one episode
guide trying to find someone who'se name may have been on an unusual place.  I
have a guess.  Could it be Stuart Erwin who played Tom Silby.  His characters
name was on his tombstone.

Oscar Trivia

2011-07-07 Thread DAVID QUINN

All this Oscar trivia about TAGS got me to thinking about the oldest nominee.
There was an actor who appeared on TAGS that was nominated for an Academy Award
in 1936 for Best Supporting Actor. He did not win, Walter Brennan won it that
year.I know within reason that there is no one who could possibly guess
this without looking it up on IMDB.
But if you want to play the game and guess before you look it up I will give
you a hint. He appeared only once on TAGS, and he appeared the first season.
And his character's name was written in a strange place on the show.

Orville Hendricks - Peddling Butter and Eggs. You know even Andy and Barney
were just small boys in 1936 when this person was nominated.
